A good solution would be to combine Riva and Diranda and to merge Neno, Midian, and Lilliput. this would put the smaller pops around 450-500 mark and would still give enough room for players to come back as more content drops.

I would agree with you if new content was coming quickly or even at all. At this point, all of the “new content” isn’t actually new. It’s just tweaking already existing content such as adding umbral shards and such to OPR. While these are good things to do, new content would be expanding the map, new dungeons, new instance-type things, just to name a couple off the top of my head. I don’t see these coming anytime soon as they still have too many bugs to fix and constant management of the server pops. So I think creating any low pop or even mid pop servers I feel would be a mistake. Merge people to be right around the 1000 player mark. That still leaves a ton of room for people to come back. But 500 pop servers still suck and are going to continue to dwindle until actual new content hits. If they make 500 pop or really anything less than say 1000 they are going to need to merge every 2 weeks at this point. 500 players will spike when OPR changes hit and last 3 weeks maybe. Then people will still be annoyed nothing is actually new and go back on break/quit and after that 3 weeks, we will be back to 300 or fewer players.

Making server transfer tokens purchasable would make them some money as well as fix a lot of these server population problems in my opinion.

They need cross server play. Cross Server OPR ques. Ways for cross server expedition groups. Doing this would create a healthier player spread across all servers.

OPR is benefitted by high population. I’ve done more OPR in the past week than I have been able to do since release.

Resource farming is benefitted by low population. I’ve only been able to farm about 1k ori ore since merge while prior to merge i was pulling 2-4k a day.

Trading Post benefits from a middle of the road population. Supply equal to demand.

Its the same situation on Europe servers. There are some servers with 36-78 online players. Last night on server Hades it was showing 214 online players (peak of the day) but could NOT fill half invasions … were like 11-22 ppl only. The rest of 180 ppl probably are bots. The server was not running any OPR or any elite runs. The only content it was Invasion or small group of ppl doing Laz/Gen.

We’ll see what happens, but I think when AGS opened up transfers, they knew some servers would helped by it, and some would be hurt, and they’d merge the hurt ones into healthy ones after the dust settled. I predicted that would happen, and if I thought of it, I expect AGS did too.

I will never understand why AGS does not remove 50% or 70% of the servers, because most of them are almost empty, many of them will have bot and the people inside trapped unable to get out, while AGS stands idly by swimming in our money.

They already have our money. And this is not a sub base game. So I’m pretty sure they will not lose any sleep. Over loads of people not logging in to play on their dead servers.

I heard server transfers. And the first thing I did was to log in, just to transfer to the most populated server. Just in the off chance AGS turn New World back into a MMO I’d like to play. I figure at that point, my new server will more then likely have at least a thousand or so players.

In EU servers is happening the same, several servers with less than 100 population, including bots, no possibility to make keys, to do expeditions…
I hope you do something, it´s not fun to be stuck in a dead server.

between npc and bot they quintuple the number of players (if not more) this is a sos for gamers in Frisland.

With the population so low, you really only need 2, maybe 3 servers NA West Servers. Just cull the rest.

I think 3-4 would be good. You don’t wanna merge to be over 1000 active because there are still a bunch of inactive that could return with future content. 1000 is a very comfortable number for good server health, good economy, and good content.

Nobody is returning we are just losing players, my server went from 1100 players on at peak to 396 . OPR changes are nice, but you wont get a q after 11pm.

I Like the idea from the dude above, if your on a high pop server and are inactive over so long, move them to another server

GW2 has had this feature for years. It is well known and far from new. Serverstructure and design of NW will prevent this though. 2000 player cap per server is a weird issue for it self in the 2020ies. One of the homemade problems of AGS.
