Server Queues and why i will be running into a wall

Because the game isn’t ‘stable’ yet…
Within a few days I think that will start and everything will get better and hopefully everything is ‘solved’ and ‘playable’ or near ‘playable’ within 1-2 weeks

No I was in the game in under an hour last night.

I am sure you play eve online

Totally on the same page with you. It’s bad behavior brought on by what I believe after doing personal research on it to be poor decision making on Amazon’s part. I did say that I agreed with you lol, did you not see that? Your example is right, but it’s also similar to getting a ticket for veering off the road to avoid hitting a deer because you crossed the solid line. That’s literally a thing. I’m hoping for a good solution that works for everyone.

Not in many years, which is coincidentally about the same time I stopped reading bait posts.

That’s good.
It’s now evening here (Europe) and peakhour…
Around a 2 hour wait…

But in the morning till 11-12 no queue’s.
Late in the evening no queue’s.
In the night no queue’s.
Today for the first time even since launch, there was no queue at all till 1-2 hours before dinnertime.
(On my server)

The days before it was queue 1500-3000 in peakhour.
And queue’s all day. Except for the night.

So things are getting better and better.
At daytime I can logout and if I want to play again an hour later I can login.

Currently (evening, peakhour in Europe) waiting in queue tho haha

Last weekend tho… the queue’s were horrible wow

I think our server was one of the servers that some streamer flashed prior to launch, so the first few days were bad as all of their fans were trying to secure spots. Then when they all figured out the streamer was on another server they all bailed. I’m not positive though I don’t know any streamers.

That happened to a lot of servers.
There were streamers with 150.000 viewers with there server name in the steam in the screen!!!
New World should have done something about it.
In almost al prenouncable server names: midgard, asgard, hellheim, valhalla are big streamers. There are even lists on internet wich streamers play on were.
All those streamers just told everybody: I am going to play on this server…

150.000 viewers
If only 2.5% makes a character on the same server… thats a huge amount

AGS is not Amazon, The makers of New World do NOT own the servers. They buy them from Amazon AWS. They are DIFFERENT companies. They did plan for the pre-order numbers and projections based on the number of copies sold. There were LOADS of servers day one, and within 48 hours they doubled the amount of servers as more copies were purchased and queue times grew.

The server i play on is full (Norumbega) and I have seen countless players all fighting for the same resources throughout the entire time ive played. Eventually 2k people will seem “small” for concurrent players. But 2k is only the “online right now” cap. The server hosts way more than that just not at the same time so faction balance is easier if you take into account time zones and such. All in all i feel the world is big, but can be crowded in certain areas with the current amount of people. This may be just due to everyone needing the same stuff at the same time due to the game being so new, could fix itself overtime. For the friends and territory aspect, i get ya, that would be hard to leave and coordinate where to go next. Thats one thing my group of friends are debating right now.

The afk timer is long enough for most people to take care of things in a timely manner. Most games do the same thing, afk kick you for being afk. The issue is coming more around that a LOT of people are trying to beat the afk timer, yes its not the only reason there is a queue, but it adds to the problem. And just a heads up, amazon is banning people who are abusing it. (and not just anyone whos been gone for like 10 extra minutes). One of my discord buddies got perma banned for anti-afking while he was at work. (No im not defending AGS for the queue times, they fucking suck)

The AFK timer went down from 20 min to 10 min I heard today…

Like 10 min. after launch some servers had already a 9000 queue.
They should have known about all the pre-orders…

Because if people didn’t pre order and bought the game at release time, still need to download it takes 30-60 min… not possible.

But the game was so hyped and rushed, everybody wanting to go on the same servers…

No character cap on the servers.

I decided to go on one of the less popular servers like in the middle at launch.
Good choice.
Not for the first days. But now it’s ‘playable’

Yeah most servers did have large queues. But mostly they were the ones people had planned for (streamers, in discord, etc) AGS couldnt help people all going to ONE server when there were plenty of others to choose from. (well they could but people already flaming them about “FULL” servers now)

I haven’t had a queue.

How is deciding you will figure out a way to play the game being a white knight? There are, put simply, ways to play the game you bought. Period. The rest are complaints from people that overestimated the strength of their friendships or are really set on being on their favorite streamer’s server I guess.

If they just magically increase the server cap every thread on here will turn to complaints of unbelievable lag and still “trillion dollar company can’t make better servers!?”

It really surprised me that so many big streamers were announcing ‘I am going to play on this server’.
They even talked about wich server who would be playing on… so not all the streamers would be on the same servers. They ‘claimed’ servers and they let everybody and all there viewers and followers know. One streamer had 150.000 viewers on launchday…

Normally streamers dont want to get trolled or streamsniped so… weird.

If Amazon knew this before they could have made special streamerservers or something.
Let them wait in queue there with all there viewers lol.

That feels pretty balanced, 2000 people is 20 full companies of 100 and they have 11 territories to fight over. And companies used to be 50 max but they raised it to 100 at some point because people wanted larger companies.

Exactly… they tested it on AUS and US servers last week… to 2250 and 2500.
FPS is already low in settlements were its crowded for a lot of people.
People complained about FPS drops, more lag…

A lot of people seem to think there are working wizards at Amazon with magic stick and that they can wave with the magic stick and solve things in a second but that they just dont want to do that

And don’t forget that there can be 10.000 people on a server, but they don’t play all at the same moment.
The change there will be exactly 20 company’s online with all there 100 members… is almost 0

I understand the frustration.

It comes down to this.

Does being able to sit down and play the game overshadow the chance of being banned.

Or does the chance of being banned overshadow the want to sit down and play the game.

Its been 8 days, they have not increased server caps, to my knowledge they cannot due to the limitations of Lumberyard. So the problem is not going to go away until more people quit the game. In which case do you want to play a game people are quitting?
