This is linsane. Is it a bad idea to make it available as a one-off for people who were misimformed OR make it possible for a higher price in tokens (marks of fortune)? What’s the problem? At-least as a one off or that’s impossible and unreasonable?
Also clearly read before that you would be able to transfer between regions.
After being unable to log on (after work hours) due to queues on Europe, I proceeded to start solo on US East with hope of joining friends on EU later. Pings were showing around 140ms to US East from the game interface. From previous experiences with other MMO’s which don’t require low-latency FPS-shooter trip times, I presumed this was OK, especially knowing that transfer would be available. Many other MMO’s play well even at 200ms.
Having now leveled a character and pushed a few professions quiet far, with many hours, now come to find that can’t transfer to EU? I would love to stay on US East and maybe make new friends there but due to how the netcode works it’s been almost impossble to do expeditions or any encounters with more than 3+ players as everything is rubberbanding and freezing out like CRAZY. And this is on a 1Gbps fiber link (with amazing peering to US) that is handled by a dual core 2.2Ghz commercial router. Even tested at a different location, a friends place, also fiber wired connection and with a different PC (high end gaming laptop), the same crazy lag issues persist.
Something isn’t perfect with the netcode or engine, as 130-150ms is unplayable. With the same setup I am able to play Overwatch on US servers from EU, with 110-130ms… not perfect crisp response but no hitches or lag or anything. And that’s a higher tick rate game, especially in competitive.
So I soloed most content and put in over 50 hours grinding + gathering + leveling, being almost at lvl 30 now. So now this all to be thrown away because you guys misinformed us? Do you secretly despise us? Do you secretly hate your customers and want them to suffer? Is this how you respect your customer’s time? Many players aren’t 18 years of age and on a summer vacation to be re-doing stuff all over again. So now some are going to be thrown under a bus? Because we couldn’t fortell that your netcode/engine isn’t well optimised to work beyond 130ms and at the launch you yourself encouraged us to jump on any server? Hence now many of us have to re-roll and re-grind like masochistic cult followers?
I can record just how bad this lag-rubberbanding on video and post it here. It’s impossible to hold aggro as a tank (with the carnelian gem socketed!) and all the protector perks in the right places. I literally freeze out every few seconds and mobs have already changed position and it’s just impossible. Abilities take a few seconds to process and you watch a boss mob just run from you while your actions seem to be on some delayed queue. And it’s not my hardware or connection as the same thing happens on different hardware and on different wired connections from a different provider. It’s the game. Others have made posts about insane lag when its above 120ms.
So Raftel. Would you mind to either retract that statement with further clarification. Or put CRITICAL flag on that issue in your developer issue tracker report.
I personally would stay as loyal customer with you forever and bring more customers in, if you do the right thing and allow the many who were, again repeating misinfomred, to be able to continue their characters where it actually works for them. Or is it too hard?
