Server Wipe - Partial (Crowfall Approach)

Look, I’ll keep this brief because I know this is a pretty evenly split notion at this time. Personally I hate the idea of server wipes, I hate the idea of server rollbacks. I honestly hate the idea of losing time invested, period. However, I suggest the following (take it as a “crowfall” approach) in order to preserve the integrity of the game, and to prevent players from losing their minds.

Wipe the following:

  • Armor
  • Weapons
  • Consumables
  • Resources
  • Faction Gear
  • Gold
  • Faction
  • territory ownership
  • housing
  • Recipes (learned and unlearned)

Retain the following:

  • gathering, refining, crafting gear (some of these were quest rewards)
  • character levels
  • crafting, gathering, refining levels
  • tools
  • bags
  • Fast Travels and towns explored

Give every character one faction set based on their level and whichever faction they choose to settle with. Give every player a base gold value (calculated by how many quests they have completed).

This will effectively reset the economy of the game. The time players invested into grinding out their accounts won’t be entirely wasted. All dupes will be erased from the game. This “should” make regional transfers significantly easier to accomplish. Trust me when I say I’d dread this just as much as anyone else, but at the same time the fact that the 150+ sumptuous rabbits that I spent 5 days grinding were replaced by thousands in a matter of hours really… really disappoints me.

Dupers are already dumping their gold into crafting items to then sell later, so I don’t see that as a plausible approach either.

There are multiple players who’ve already hit 200 crafting in all sub categories, so it doesn’t really affect it at all. Players will still have to regrind the materials regardless.

I think a wipe is cool. I’d level again and hard core pve will level again no problem I mean they did make the game for them so this way it can be like, you know, second game for pve. Win/win/win/win

I think I accidently salvaged some crafting gear. Actually, they need to make crafting gear craftable to be honest and not just tied to quests. Or in the very list, give a one time recipe to recreate it when you salvage it.

Note: Leaving folks with their current gather/crafting/refining just creates a new unfair advantage and could create a different type of negative market. If they were gonna wipe, they just need to do a flat out wipe.

NO
plz no
i and many of my company have spent too many hours gaining our current status just bann the dupers and the people working with them then wipe all items they have put on the market… problem solved

Why partial? Need a full reset.

When some don’t likie they always want a wipe

I’m normallly fine with leveling again. I’m an “altoholic” in most games. This game, however, is just way too grind instensive. I just simply do not have it in me to grind thousands of ore, plants and leather again, or to grind the same three quests again for 60 levels.

I’d hate to lose all the legit farming I did for voidbent and such, but at this point, even when bugs are fixed, the economy will still be in shambles.

I mean they did make the game for them

Not true, will never be true, lmao.

I think it’s a long shot, because MMOs are never wiped after release, but at the minimum this needs a rollback to the time before the transfers came and the exploit gold started to flood the servers. As of now it’s completely broken, and unless there is some kind of rollback, it will remain broken, which really isn’t acceptable.

Gathering gear is by no means hard to get. I’d assume that the HWM would end up being wiped as well. The bulk majority of players would probably b-line back to Elite’s or 65 corrupteds to start the grind again. This would ultimately bring in a large supply of gathering/crafting/refining gear regardless.

There are still items in the game that players have no way of retrieving (such as wyrd protection armor) so I’d rather them just leave it instead of some players getting them back and others not getting them.

It was made for us first and them for them :frowning: I want it back for us but they are more than welcome to play.

The entire game has PVP at it’s core.

It does but it’s been gutted with stagger gone and weapons being exploited. Hoping they fire the guys at the helm and bring in some pvp minded developers.

A partial wipe will not solve the problem, honestly they should just bite the bullet and commit to a future wipe date, and treat the game as it is as a second Open Beta (that’s basically what it is).

For example, let us play now for another 3-4 months and find more bugs and exploits. Attempt some actual weapon/ability balance changes, release extra weapons, etc and then just do a full wipe at Q2 2022.

Big thing is to be open about it, let us know it is coming. Some people will stop playing, but honestly they might have anyway because of the current state of the game. But there are a large number of players that will continue playing, I am guessing more that the actual Open Beta had. Just own up to it, you are new at this we get it - let us help and make the final release something great.

The transfers had has nothing to do with the dupes… They just opened the door for one more dupe - the trading dupe/company treasure dupe/auctionhouse offering dupe doesn’t needs you to change server or anything else linked to it… These exploits are based on how the gameservers and clients are communicating

Yes I know that these have nothing to do with the transfer-related duping, but the amount of duping overall, or at the very least the observation of it, has dramatically increased since then, and since that’s the last maintenance it makes for a logical rollback point. That was what I meant.

While I’d agree with that, the game will eventually get updated. GS caps will increase. New materials will be introduced. That’s specifically why a partial wipe would be the most beneficial with the least “long-term” damage to the player base.
