Something needs to be done asap regarding server performance. I’m in orofena in the US east, and when the server is at max pop as it has been regularly in prime time at nights there are a plethora of observable problems.

Expedition mutators are not spawning mobs predictably. Fri and Sat night our company did multiple tempest m10 runs. At the 3 corrupted portal area the mobs did not spawn right away. One time we were able to close all the portals before a single mob spawned. Another time we sat 2min waiting then tried to close the portals then everything spawned at once and overwhelmed and killed us. We’ve also been having to wait 2 to 4min at the brute in the cellar for him to spawn as well. There are other examples too but common thread is servers are not spawning mobs when they should. It’s difficult to complete time based content if the mobs are not spawning when they are supposed to be. And this also can lead to exploits (skipping content) and a poor user experience.

Opr baron not spawning. We do opr nights with our company twice a week in prime time hours and of course many of us play opr all the time. When the servers are at max pop and a large queue, we also observe the baron not spawning when the timer countdown elapses. It will show baron Alive and we’ll all be waiting there but she won’t spawn for 30s or longer sometimes. When you’ve got your team fully rotated and ready this is super annoying.

Opr lag, desync, weapon swapping all seem to get much worse in prime time when servers are max and the queue is high. (compared to matches played in the morning or afternoon for example)

Town storages won’t open reliably during peak hours and max pop. Nothing like pushing E to get an item out of your storage just for nothing to open, then when you walk away to do something else and a minute or two later the storage finally opens… When you’re not even standing next to the storage shed any more.

Players frozen in place. Used to see this only in towns, but now starting to see it in other areas too, again only during high peak pop with queue times. Busy towns, expedition entrances, even in the open world when we have our practice scrimmage wars. The common thread seems to be areas where large numbers of players congregate along with the server being at max pop with a queue.

War disconnects and roster kicks. In our last 2 wars at the beginning of them roughly 1/3 of the players received the invite, accepted it, and were promptly kicked and removed from the army. This results in a last minute scramble to refill the spots from the wait list nstead of normal war preparations (battle plan briefing etc). On top of the initial accept/kick problem, around 10 or so get disconnected or kicked in the middle of the war. It is very disruptive trying to reslot people while you’re in the middle of fighting. Not 100% sure if this one is a server load issue or software bug from when they rolled back instanced wars but its been a mess.

I’ve heard and read a lot about invasion problems recently too. Things freezing, or mobs not spawning. It’s been a little while since I’ve done invasions on a regular/weekly basis but the last few I did some gates never got spawns of some of the more difficult mobs at all such as sprigs, bears, priests, or captains.

Lastly, please fix the damn queue counter at login. It’s been bugged and showing the wrong number forever, 1 to 4 to 3 to 7. Is it displaying only the last digit of the actual queue number? We all have to go to nwdb to see the real server queue. This is an embarrassing bug that doesn’t greet players well as they first try to enter aeternum. Let’s try to start things off on the right foot.
I know many are sick of the queues and I am too, but the answer cannot be to raise the population per server (at least with the current servers). The fact is the game and servers simply can’t handle 2000 concurrent players. We never had these problems in ohonoo before the forced server merge to orofena (ohonoo was at 800 to 1200 max in prime time). The game simply ran much smoother at half population. Brimstone is exciting and will pull more people back to the game but we can’t risk them having a poor experience right off the bat when they’re giving the game a 2nd chance. And of course, the rest of us long timers here also deserve an improved experience.
Please comment if you’ve had trouble with mobs spawning in expeditions, baron spawning in opr, town storage not opening, war invite accept/kicks, invasion issues, or any of the other issues listed above specifically during PEAK PLAYER COUNT and also let us know which server you’re on. Curious to know how widespread these problems are or if ohonoo is an isolated example of poor server performance during max load. Thanks!
