Originally I thought this was what world sets were for.
Originally I had thought that the reason for world sets was for when individual servers in those sets didn’t have enough players to satisfy the game mechanic requirements (holding towns; numbers for wars/Rushes/etc.). Having these world sets would allow the devs to ‘blur’ the server lines and let players mix within the world sets from different servers.
However, the points made re: city control nixes those ideas. Who chooses? Does it become a crazy intra-faction war over control of territories? Do they merge the servers and reset the territories, no war but still a free-for all? Doesn’t make sense.
I don’t think things were thought through entirely when we were hit with the incredible queues. What AGS should have done was increased player cap per server and then offered beneficial options for free trades to balance out servers with less populations.
What we have now are an influx of servers that are now very low population and no real clear way to merge things.
Maybe what should happen is that a handful of guild leaders from some of these low pop serves should get together on discord and try, as players, to come up with a way that mergers can happen and companies on said servers have a good way to manage the way it’s done from a company-who-controls-a-city perspective. Clearly AGS has no idea.
I imagine this is the point of the world sets… maybe. Maybe those are all linked, which is why you can only have 1 character per world set. So those will eventually merge somehow.
I’ve been watching the servers closely since release of server transfer, I will continue to grind and let the craziness settle before me and my friends choose to merge to another world altogether. Only frustrating part is not having anyone to do expeditions with when there are no wars going on.
Guys this is not really a technical issue any longer, it’s a design/logic flaw in what Amazon designed.
When the small servers go away, and they will need to in order to consolidate the diminishing player base, your owner ship of towns must go too.
The only option would have been to reset all town ownership at the time of server merges. They could create one server merged from many low population servers, and allow all the merged player’s to reclaim territory on the new server. This was not the route they took
So now you’re going to HAVE to move or eventually be moved when they shut down the extra servers. And your land ownership is gone. Move now as a guild and work on reestablishing yourselves on a high pop server, so you don’t potentially have to move again as the player base continues to shrink.
Many servers have been merged before in other games.
Usually there is some sort of territory control given up and it is always from the smallest server.
whats there to be shocked about? Game has tons of bugs and people understand that. Once transfers are back up at least people can play with friends, until then I won’t log either.
What I see is mats are to rare to craft or to expensive. Crafting formulas need to be reduced or made available easier. Alot of the upper tier items ingredients require faction tokens, which are low volume per mission. Im assuming AGS went in thinking everyone is a grinder, I have over 400 hours logged and can barely afford faction gear. But I also see they made it hard to achieve max skills to preserve longevity of game play, e.g. armorsmithing. It’s very expensive to craft, almost seems impossible if you don’t grind day and night. Back to my main point, most important mats for good gear is hard to find like void ore and is non existent. You need max mining luck to hope to get one small piece. So now you have 12 players who can destroy everything on the server. The competition margin is vast. Chest drops for anyone under 60 seems to be really unbalanced and frustrates players under 60. Due to rarity of items market prices for high level gear are super expensive. I’ve currently spent 31k on my current setup and only have a 545 avg gear score. Also to consider for low pops, alot of bot/macro accounts have been removed or people have spread to other servers and the amount of people have went from heavy of a few servers to spread on many. Maybe another reason we are now seeing influx of bot users running around. Just note, they arent actual bots. But a user utilizing a macro to perform functions. End rant. Just my thoughts. But anyone feeling empty are welcome to join me in Mictlan. We are fortunate to have a decent non packed server.
I do not think a “merger” is a good idea rather a migration of characters to a server of their choosing. And I think that is what the transfer us suppose to be.
Honestly, my server is dying. Wars have stopped all together. I am sure that the mix up of merging servers with faction imbalances would put more life into it. There should be a shake up every 120 days. Or else it will stagnate. Right now, on my server it is a green PVE world. Not much fun in that for anyone.
Mine is full PVE purple world, a well organized guild (credit where credit is due) took advantage early in the release, now they sit with tons of money due to taxes (all their pvps are full voidbent armor by now, invested in tons of money to craft jewelrly and weapons 600gs on top of that), the self proclaimed “second guild on the server” left the server with their tails between their legs after getting beating after beating, then quickly abandoned the wars and just sit down there waiting for transfer. So now, nobody even do wars or any kind of pvp.
I have no clue how Amazon could fix this situation, except maybe moving all the dominant guilds from all servers into a single server so they can fight between themselves.
Please do YOUR research. You’re literally as wrong as the Mod who posted that it’s serverside. The client makes decisions and sends the data to the server. The server is a database which confirms or denies requests. The textbox literally allows you to write code into the clientside user interface. Try again…
It does suck that some people will come out as losers in a server merge.
But a shitty experience for EVERYONE else on the server trumps that.
Your town ownership isn’t more important than the playing experience of everyone else. Sorry.
There should be some pvp way to settle it, I don’t know, or really care, what exactly that looks like. But the needs of the many should outweigh the needs of the few in this case.
At least you get to play outpost rush, the server I am on I was on the queue for outpost rush all day, the highest I ever saw it was after 5 hours when it was 2/40
