(There are obvious ways around this but I shouldn’t have to go around it)
I run sword and shield with great axe and I’m curious to why when I swap weapons I lose DEX until I swap back to sword and shield, I’m assuming this was your way of dealing with people who put a shield on their backs just milk more attribute points where they can when their not actually using a sword?
MY< example issue is that the shield gives me 12 DEX, the perfect amount to hit 150 DEX and make my dodges cost 10 less stamina, but I completely miss out on this “milestone” unless I have sword and shield in my hand instead of axe.
I’m sure this isn’t a bug, but wasn’t the exact intention you were looking for?
I should get attribute points for weapons that are equipped in a weapon slot, in this case sword & a shield should both be equipped to receive attribute points without having them out and ready just like any other weapon.
Main weapon gives you stats regardless if sheathed, shield only gives stats when in hand. I don’t think it’s and oversight, just a bonus to being a tank and having your tank weapons out. If you always got both you’d have people complaining that they should get shield attributes just because they have one on their back.
Except it is not a bonus because Sword stats are reduced - Sword + Shield = total stats of any other weapon.
In its current form a tank is stitched up because when he swaps to second weapon he has less stats than any other player.
The obvious solution is either:
Remove Shield stats and put it all on Sword
Combine Sword/Shield into ‘one slot’ (basically have a 'secondary slot adjacent to the weapon slot where sword goes, it only becomes usable when Sword is in weapon slot)
I assume not since i cannot think of any reason why it would be.
Clearly it was a shortsighted ‘fix’ when someone went ‘oh hey, I can boost my stats by putting a shield here’ so they prevented that from happening to stop people ‘gaining stat advantage’ with a shield and didn’t fully think it through. By fixing it they gave everyone a stat advantage over actual shield users.
Yep they split the attributes between the sword and shield so each get half what other weapons get. They either need to make it so if you have a sword in one of your two slots you also get the shield stats, or just move the stats to the sword and the shield only adds defense when you are using it unsheathed.
