Shirking Fortifaction Stacking Calculation Is Incorrect and Overtuned

Shirking Fortification: Dodging through an enemy attack grants fortify, increasing damage absorption by 3.8% for 6s. Each armor piece with this perk increases the potency of the effect.

The amount of damage absorption you get does not scale linearly as you would assume. Unfortunately, the description does not state how much the potency increases. Say you have three pieces, and let’s assume they scaled linearly, that would be 3.8% + 3.8% + 3.8% = 11.4% fortification. However, I am pretty sure that instead of adding they decided to make the perk scale multiplicative. So, again with three pieces, 3.8% x 3.8% x 3.8% = 54.8% fortification. Also, it doesn’t have a cooldown, you can dodge multiple attacks in a short duration and gain stacks on top of stacks.

Now I am not entirely sure how the scaling works, but what I can tell you is that it is WAY more than 3.8% per piece.

Pretty soon all wars are going to be a bunch of mages and bruisers with this perk and the 3v3 arenas will be too. I personally know a handful of companies across multiple servers and regions in North America who know about this perk being busted and haven’t reported it. Shame.

I’ll look into this!

Just finished testing, and it does work correctly by adding additively.

So there is no bug correct?

correct

You can dodge multiple attacks with 1 dodge, stacking it faster. It also stacks during the 6 sec cooldown.

If I have 5 pieces and dodge two attacks with 1 dodge, I’m at 38% fortify.

I dodge 1 more attack I’m at fortify cap.

In Medium I can dodge up to 4 times.

  • It should max at 1 stack, meaning 5pieces @ 625 GS, @ 4.2% caps at 21% fortified.

  • It should also have a cooldown, like the other “proc on dodge” perks recently added

It should have a max stack of 5.

Ok, just finished testing.

Each stack is a multiple of the total potency.

So if the total potency is say 10%, then at 5 stacks you’d have 50%.

It also doesn’t refresh the stacks, hence “RefreshDuration”: 0.

Which is bugged, no?

3.8% per piece
3.8 * 5 pieces = 19% per stack (potency)
19 * 5 stacks = 95% fortified (capped at 50%)

1 dodge, dodging 5 attacks in a single dodge = max fortified, for 6 seconds (increased by amulet and some mastery passive to 10 seconds)

No, I wouldn’t call it bugged. Just overtuned. Like you suggested, just having a max stack of 1 would be the solution to that.

bump

If you are lucky enough to Dodge 5 attacks in one Dodge, then you deserve to have that high a buff afterwards.

I think that situation would be incredibly rare.

I think this Perk is working as intended.

This mod is outright broken, as it is fortify in general. Just was testing with my friend and with 5 perks, he gets to 50% overall damage reduction with 3 stacks, that’s HALF damage reduction, it’s INSANE GUYS. If that weren’t enough, you can also have this up 100% of the time as it has no CD!! XDD. Dudes must’ve been high when they thought of this perk.
I can now understand why I’ve been doing auto attacks of 300 damage to people in OPR - get rid of this shit AGS, and in the meantime, change Fortify to give you a percent of extra armor, not flat damage - it’s totally ridiculous.
Hitting people with 10k+ health for 300-500 damage while they wreck your head with their big, fat Axes takes away my willingness to play the game to be honest.

@Aenwyn
Bump.

Can confirm this will be adjusted in a future patch.

It’s broken in PvE and PvP and needs to be fixed… now go crawl back under your rock.

because yes that all he care about is pvp aspect clearly not 1 mention on and pve content on the thread READ

This really doesn’t work as intended. Here are some additional calculations if that helps to figure out the problem:

Tested it on same level mobs with same strength of attack, with 1-5 items with Shirking Fortification and 0-5 stacks. here are the numbers:

As you can see, 1 item with 5 stacks gives you around 19% of fortification
2 items with 5 stacks give you 38%
3 items with 5 stacks give you 57%, but it’s being 50% capped on 5th stack
4 items with 5 stacks give you 76%, but it’s being 50% capped on the 4th stack already
5 items with 5 stacks give you 95%, but its being 50% capped on the 3rd stack already

Hope that helps.

Upd: any chance you can provide info on when this update will come live?

And please @Developer add an easy system to activate or deactivate a perk / ability / ability perk. it’s just an boolean to every perk and an if statement which also dont have much of an impact on network (or you just do it client side)… so you can get the time to fix it properly and the playerbase would not be that toxic about your competence.
