You seem to ignore expectations and payoff. New World is marketed as an MMO. As such there were MMO expectations behind it. Most MMO players play for years. The expectation is that you could play a good MMO for at least a year. New World has likely failed to meet that expectation (hence the 90% player-base drop).
If it takes you 1000 hours to recognize something isn’t worth your time, then you have some serious problems prioritizing your usage of time.
You’re well aware all MMOs prey on people like this right? People have dedicated their lives to WoW, even while hating the M+ mechanic. ESO players have spent years playing despite a terrible combat system. MMOs bank on the fact that people prioritize their time terribly. Just because someone is god-awful at time management doesn’t preclude them from determining whether something was time well spent.
I left back in October because the game was no longer fun for me. It was fun for roughly 75% of the time I played. The last 25% I played, I stuck around hoping it would get better. It didn’t. The expectation that New World would succeed as an MMO (in my opinion) has failed therefore, the time I wasted on it, was just that. Wasted time.
Worth is subjective. The time and money spent, in my opinion were not worth it.
Hah. I’ve spent maybe 2 hours on the forums. I find that I tend to enjoy games more when I avoid the overwhelmingly negative attitudes and groupthink common to most game forums. Is me asking how you can’t have gotten your moneys worth after 1000 hours really the equivalent to bullying? Damn lol.
I think we’re gonna have to agree to disagree. While I think it’s valid to have opinions that you don’t like the direction of the game, or that it wasn’t what you expected, I can’t agree with a statement from someone who played hundreds of hours that they didn’t get their $40 worth. I’ve played and left Ultimata, Lotro, Warhammer, GW, and Rift. I certainly had 1000+ hours in many of those. I got bored and quit (or in the case of warhammer it quit me). Not in one single case did I not think I got my moneys worth. The amount of entertainment time you get in an mmo for the $ is superb compared to many other if not all entertainment options.
Sure. The reason we can agree to disagree is because worth is subjective. You’ll never believe that someone who played hundreds of hours didn’t get their money’s worth, because of how you subjectively perceive that worth (which seems time based). To me Time does not equate to worth.
Look at this way. Take a dish from a restaurant for example. You order a $40 meal and its from one of those hibachi places where you cook it yourself. Say it takes 10 hours to cook (Suspend your disbelief), you don’t enjoy the 10 hours cooking it, but you’re doing it because you want the pay off of eating the meal. The dish turns out to be terrible, due to no fault of your own (the cook accidently included cockroaches in the dish or something). Those 10 hours are wasted, because the expectation was “I’m going to eat a great meal. In order to eat this great meal, I’m going cook it for 10 hours.” You have a right to feel disgruntled no matter how long you took.
Same thing with the MMO. People will put up with the grind of levels 1 - 60 in order to get to the endgame. “I hate this grind to 60, but I’ll put x amount of hours in, so I can reach the cool endgame!” I’m sure you’ll agree with me, most MMO players (especially those who spend 1k hours) are endgame focused. When the endgame is terrible/unfinished/non-existent, for some all that effort put into playing the game becomes worthless, especially if they didn’t enjoy the journey.
You don’t have to agree with their way of thinking, but you can’t dismiss their valuation of worth.
I get what you mean about getting to the end game. Here’s the thing though. It doesn’t take 1000 hours to get to the end game. It takes like what… 150 maybe? So if your not being entertained by the end game, why stick around for another 850 hours? If you enjoyed if for even a chunk of that time you got value for your $.
I don’t know why he stuck around, and I’m not going to speculate.
I’ll just disagree with your point that if you enjoyed x amount of time you got value for $ - as I stated previously I don’t believe length of time = greater worth/value. 1 hour with my girlfriend is worth more than 1000 hours with my co-workers - even if I enjoyed some of that time with them. But even if I disagree with your valuation that time = worth, it is still valid. Since determination of worth is subjective to each individual.
Ultimately, I think we’ve gotten way off topic. I typically only dip in on here once every few months to see if NW has gotten better. It was great having a rational conversation with you.
IMO, not at this time. They will essentially be signing up for a broken game with zero CS should something befall their home or should one of the many bugs cause thousands of their gold to poof.
If you look at many of the world maps, they are broken too, with a single faction holding everything. The economy is entirely player driven which is a terrible premise and predictably… broken.
Given time, these things might be worked through. Small changes are happening in the right direction, but the current state is still a hot mess.
I started, got to my mid-teens, and tried to get crafting skills up and running. I got to Windward and hit a brick wall, with the bots leveling everything, then the level 60’s running faster, harvesting quicker and basically being arrogant shyts taking anything left over its a waste of time. Why the hell the 60’s don’t get diminishing returns on level is beyond me, it would make raping the newb areas a waste of time for them. As for the Bots … AGS don’t care and unfortunately Amazon will NOT give refunds on software, they are just giving us the bird all the way to the bank.
For me $50 ill spent.
Actually ESO, and GW2 both are offer many times more content for your $40. Actually objective speaking, both of those MMOs are just superior to NW. New World does everything worst then those two MMOs. I would add FFXIV to the list but that MMO pretty much has no PvP.
New World only has like at best 10 hours of non-repetitive content. All three of the aforementioned MMOs have at least 150 hours of non repetitive content. Two of them having over 300 hours of non-repetitive content.
New World in my opinion is at best worth $20 and no more. But I suspect New World will go FTP with a aggressive cash shop driven gameplay, in like 4 months. Like in Korean MMOs like BDO. Honestly the only thing decent about New World. Is the fact it’s a different map from other MMOs.
Sorry but I truly believe that you are wrong. And that New World is not worth $40 or the investment of time. When you’ll get way more for less elsewhere in the MMO genre.
It depends on your approach, If you want to sink over 8hrs a day 7 days a week for 100 consecutive days to catch up and be competitive in endgame, you’ll be fine. Otherwise, it’s going to be very difficult as progression in this game is vertical and will take you around 8 months with casual play style to reach where ppl are now.
I’d say it’s worthwhile to hop in enjoy the game, open world, hit cap get some regular gear, enjoy some PvP until your gear is irrelevant, then you can shelve the game. The game is great, the combat is unique, worth the try.
Those things does not affect you much so no reason not to play the game. It is a fun PvE game to go from 1-60 and then do some lvl 60 expeditions(=dungeons). Then, after that, the game becomes repetitive but it should still give you 1-200 hours of enjoyable content.
IMO is worth 40 bucks is not a wealth, you can try, in the beggining game is great, after reaching 60 lvl game becomes very repetive something like grind simulator. PVE gives much more fun in small group cuz it is hard. PVP is dead content not worth cuz if carebears who dont want full loot pvp cuz they are afraids of losing their pixels ( Thats why I came back to Albion, nobody cry, losing gear is something normal), also game has a lot of unfixed bugs since start. Dupe bugs are not a problem anylonger they removed all duped gold and items (I bought few and they took them away) but I got my money back so no problem. Sum up I will not reccomend this title to anyone until devs will not fix desync, weapon swap bugs.
Im sad to say that : No… I was very active and defending the game but they definetly lose me after several failure and communication and the last video about the future confort me in my decision… The entire team of AGS or maybe the guys who take decisions have to be fired. ASAP. No Roadmap, 0 content. Mutations coming is a joke. Nothing new for pvp “MAYBE” more information in the month of “MARS”. well dont waste your time if you are pvp players run away, if you are pve player run away . Im sad to tell you that but there is the current fact. bad team + bad decision + bad communication + bad content so a lot of BAD.
Suggest the wild area monster gold coins drop cancel, * We found a lot of robots fighting automatically in a certain area, * The amount of gold gained over a long period of time is amazing, * They don’t stop for 24 hours
