there is a few problems with earning xp from player killing:
not every weapon does the same dps and is made for killing - s/s life staff etc…its a lot of work and a lot of balancing, also every time you change a weapon you need to test your xp gain again
new world has a small population in each server, so system like like this can be exploited easy, players always take the fastest way to the top not the most fun
how to optimise the size of the zone with the players inside, but also keep in mind how much will somebody wait to go in
just a few on top of my mind
with the current server population and the global interest in PVP i would say only modes like 10v10v10 would be possible
The fights dont have to be fair and balanced in this zone, its whichever faction is the strongest will rule. This motivates the other factions to get in there and show they are better. there should be no player limits, maybe some free pvp xp just for holding on to forts.
one faction will rule one empty zone… nobody is going in if the server population is 80% purple
balancing doesn’t need to be perfect but it needs to be possible for any team to win even in 1/10 times
You made the point that views on a forum are meaningless because the same people can click one thread over and over and inflate view and insinuated interest. Then you tried to claim the metrics are there for a NW PVP server/zone. What metrics? Inflated forum clicks and a petition that hasn’t even hit 200? That just shows the interest isn’t there. If you’re one of those people saying the metric is WoW that is a false comparison. WoW has been around almost 20 years and has millions of players it’s not even remotely comparable to what people want in NW. That’s like saying Call of Duty is popular so NW should change to a first person shooter. Quality Science!
This is how I view the demand for a PvP zone. I have repeatedly and blatantly stated that I don’t think a PvP server has any merit for this game the way it’s currently being designed.
These are the games that New World was originally built to be like, as stated in early developer interviews. These are the games that PvP players are hoping to find traces of in New World. These are the games, that both served as New World’s PvP inspiration and also drastically outperform New World.

I like the idea of a doac style pvp zone, however I feel the server size is too small to support it to have any kind of meaningful large scale keep siege.
If the game had cross sever infrastructure I could see it (similar to eso) or if there were dedicated pvp servers where a larger portion of the server were interested in pvp.
Prob like you posting 4 year old articles while the game was still in development before the game was completely overhauled and released as a completely different concept. Then you even admit to it LMAO. Bro, just keep getting owned.
I do not understand why this topic is so heated. I find it extremely werid that players are so desperately anti PvP when we are only suggesting things that will not affect PvE players.
We go to great lengths to respect the PvE’ers with what we suggest. Most other games have PvP specific rewards such as cosmetic skins or unique looking weapons and armors.
we ask for no such things. We dont ask for anything that cannot be obtained through PvE activity. we just ask for something to incentivise or create world PvP activity.
I find it very selfish and honestly obnoxiously toxic that the PvE’ers are so passionately trying to discuss against it. There is no logical or reasonable excuse for acting such a way. I think the PvE’ers in this discussion should be quite ashamed of themselves.
I’m not anti PVP, I PVP all the time and do just fine. The point is that we don’t need special zones or servers. People trying to say because other PVP games are popular means NW should completely change directions makes no sense. People can just go play those other games. There is a reason AGS changed directions with NW and I’m sure they had “metrics” to show a pure PVP was not going to work for them and they released a mixed game which was extremely popular but sadly squandered through buggy programing and lack of new content. The solution is not to completely change the direction of the game but to get it in working order with regular new content which they are doing.
We are here to provide AGS with current date metrics by voicing our requests. Why dont you let AGS do their job and deal with metrics and analytics instead of try to somehow prevent us? You can refer to 3 year old alpha as much as you want. We will voice our current requests in 2022.
