Well they’re incompetent as they come. What did you expect? Praise???
The devs are killing it putting in long hours by the looks of it. Thank you guys. Games is hards. Appreciate the work.
wow in its 17 years of history has never had monumental bugs that can be linked directly to its source code or engine where as new world hasn’t had a single bug that can’t be linked directly to that would you care to try another fallacy?
hey, how about being stuck dead for 3 weeks already? I would look at you in such a situation.
the game does not have a sub? ahhahah? i won’t give it a dollar, with such treatment. Imagine paying for the new iPhone and having no chance to use it because if the seller…
#AGSCANTDEV cmon guys, spread the tag xDDD
It didnt break the game and they shut down the portion of the game an hour after the post was made here about it.
Bless Unleashed Temporarily Suspends Accounts Duping Items | MMORPG.com
I mean there is was an entire article on one of the largest MMO sites around, thats how prevalent it has been in MMORPGS.
Item duping video proof - its over. — MMORPG.com Forums
Duping (video games) - Wikipedia
Look at all the examples I found. I never said ALL mmos have duping exploits I said ALL MMOS have bugs. Maybe take your own advice.
Really?
Months of getting stuck kneeling down collecting loot at launch was my imagination I suppose. Or Seal of Command not working properly for 8 months post launch.
Oh, the server lag for the opening of AQ was again just a figment of my imagination…their netcode went splat…remember? Hell, half of my server (Terenas) left because of it including some of the top guilds. Shit wasn’t pretty.
Rose colored glasses Mate. Blizzard had a ton of issues with WoW…just we seem to forget them over time.
I’m not excusing the issues experienced here. But to say Blizzard didn’t have engine issues is, well, not exactly accurate.
All games have issues. Every…single…one…of…them. Nature of the beast, really.
shameless plug
My hope that something like this would help us that have an issue with the dupes and consider them to be game breaking: Tracable items and all their parents (fight dupe)
Coincidentally, pasting a trusted link is also one of the requirements to increase in trust level.
Agreed, especially as the feedback forum is filled with useless whining and ‘threats to stop playing’ - it’s supposed to be feedback (obviously posts like this one are rare).
I appreciate all the hard work the devs are doing and wish people would understand that coding and fixing bugs etc is not so simple on a game of this magnitude… especially one with no monthly fee.
yes blizzard absolutely did have a ton of issues never did i deny that, seal of command not working was a development issue(tho frankly if you were playing a ret pally at the time you had many more issues then that) not an engine issue by the developers own admission it was based on faulty logic on their end, server lag was a server side issue(something still experienced to this day) and frankly speaking its issues were actually pretty light for its era as numerous as they were but we aren’t in 2004 anymore now are we and wow is no longer even remotely the standard bearer for the genre thus any comparison to wows launch made in defense of new worlds launch is nothing more then a fallacy as i stated
It takes all kinds to get anything done. The world needs the haters to feed the fire and the yes men to keep the creators from getting burnt-out. This is the process its not pretty but it has stood the test of time with no signs of changing any time soon the Devs know the way this works and are fully expecting all of this. Kudos to all, you have been playing your parts wonderfully I think we will all enjoy the results.
You got a little something on your nose.
Im with you.
I know we are hated. But I agree.
More of the “can’t be mad at anyone” culture.
As an old gamer, I’ve been around, and my views are simple. Yes, New World has a lot of bugs. Anyone play Fallout 76 on release? Or now, for that matter?
I have been playing MMO’s for something on the order of 20 years. New World runs about middle of the pack as far as polish and bugs for a new game.
That’s not important, what is important, is whether the bugs are addressed, and the Devs so far do very well in that regard. That’s all I ask for or care about.
I have played other games where the Dev team was far too passive or slow to address issues and fix them.
I think that, for whatever reason, this game, or at least this forum, is filled with a lot of young gamers that lack any real history or experience playing newly launched games, or who’s experience is primarily game console games, which are an entirely different thing.
Everyone needs to chill out. As long as issues are being addressed, the game will be fine. Stop with all of the emo rage. It’s ridiculous.
Devs are solid and active. That’s something to be grateful for. Whatever it is, they’ll get it done.
When they stop fixing things on a daily or weekly basis, that’s the time to get vocal about things. For now, that’s not the case at all. They’re a good team, doing a good job.
We may not be in 2004, but development of any large scale project such as NW, WoW, are all indeed beholden to the exact same teething issues. Not one game of this scope will ever, ever release in perfect working condition. That’s virtually impossible.
You can bet Blizzard if they were to release any project this large and this new would be facing similar complaints/issues/bugs as NW. Hell, D3 at launch was well…awful. Remember the bugs/exploits…that’s more recent (still a ways back). And that was from Blizzard, no less.
That’s the point: any large scale game is going to have issues, especially MMO’s. WoW is the easy one to compare it to as it’s the most popular. Warhammer Online, GW and GW2, LotR online, all had significant issues. There just are too many systems at play and there will be some ugly stuff in the beginning. Fair enough. Shit happens. I think Amazon can fix a lot of this and probably will over time. There is a lot to fix of course.
So no, not a fallacy. Not comparing the products, comparing the process. They are the same and they all have the same pitfalls. It’s a large scale development project w/ tight financial goals and schedules. Teething pains are to be expected (just like any other large scale game I have played over the decades).
The good news is this game doesn’t have a sub fee. So, if folk think it has promise (I’m in that camp) I can wait it out w/o any further investment. If they fix it, great! (the game has a lot of promise after all). If they don’t…big whoop. I’ve already played 125 hours and have by in large enjoyed it.
Today is very different than 2004 for another reason: social media. These things get overblown simply because of ‘real time’ information from, well, a bunch of whackaloons trying to make a name for themselves. Ya know…‘influencers’.
For better or worse.
I tend to take a more cautious approach w/o getting all frantic about things. To each their own.
This is true BUT when you buy a game and a PATCH…not the game but what they DONE to mess up the game instead of fixing problems, made it worse. I never had a single issue UNTIL this “maintenance” on 10-30 or whatever date it was last week and now I can’t craft a single gear piece, not jewelry, not armor, not weapons…NOTHING and I done all the log out, turn off, restart pc, uninstall/reinstall both the game AND Steam with zero effects. Now that being said, yes, I AM going to be upset when a perfectly working game for me screws up due to THEM and then they have not answered/responded/replied to any of my reports so again yes, when I’m a crafter and crafting is 60% of my time, the other 40…gathering so between I don’t do much else…would YOU complain or just sit there submissively and go “It’ll get fixed”? Get real
OOOooooo, boy, sick burn. You’re so cool.
…
I’m in the same (wait and see) camp too but I feel people have the right to be upset when a product is oversold, or when they are lied to. I’m not saying that you said otherwise, but it could read as such.
Your logic is mostly sound but I do not think its fully done. I.e, it is reasonable to expect teething issues as time has shown us that will happen. I do however find, and this is where I do not agree with you, that the more experience you have with a domain the less common (and utterly damaging) mistakes you should make.
In other words, no I do not think we should have the same amount of problems that we had in 04, we should have gotten better. The processes should have improved, and it is my opinion that it has in most cases though investors always muddies the waters. From what I’ve seen, in regards to amount of dupes, AGS is leading the dupe category when they should in fact (according to me) been better than average. I feel they should be better than average because of money (read expertise), time and that they are not really pushing the field in anything they have done. I also believe they should be better because every game they tried to launch failed (?).
I also do not think that most people expect an issue free game, I think most people expect a game with few potentially game breaking bugs and a game that they paid for (or rather, were sold). From what I’ve read here, it seems that people are unhappy with the fact that NW isn’t living up to their minimal expectations, not that it missed their biggest hopes.
My opinion is that NW is def been worth my money, though as of now, it is not worth my time.
That last line sums up my attitude towards NW at this point.
It’s just not worth my time.
Reinstalled after the downtime to check out the fixes today and promptly uninstalled.
I just want to veg out and grind not spend my time alt tabbing between patch notes and forum posts trying to figure out if something is a bug or a feature.
