"Silent" PTR Bow Changes

Not only this. There is dmg difference and stagger with some skills. I dont think you can compansate for it with anything FS does offer.

Not all weapons need to be the same. The stagger is like a half second at best on two skills. What fire staff has in place is burnout movement skill. You also have quicker cooldowns.

Damage difference comes from single target weapon vs an aoe weapon. We already covered this and you agreed.

If you want to play a more AoE class you play fire staff. If you want to play a more single target class you play bow.

If you love being a wizard/mage type of roll then you play fire staff. If you want to be more of a ranger type of roll you play bow.

Its really this simple.

Still. Bow should not have same hitboxes as FS has imho. And i wont change it. Might be wrong but i feel this hitboxes should be somwhere between bow live and fs live version. So bow would remain more skill requiring weapon but with much bigger playmaking potential if mastered.

It currently does not. They changed it again on the PTR. Just that they tried to do it silently. I dont even really care about that honestly. I do care about the god aweful change to the movement again.

Well what they did on PTR now is a joke imho.
Bow is now kinda FS but with better single target dmg and worse aoe. There are not that many differences between weapons left lol. Its bad imho.

The movement changes killed the bow for me. I played bow with it being bad like that for 6 months. All in hopes that it was one day going to be changed. Then they said it was coming. Then I focused my build and rolled armor/put umbral into it. Not the greatest stuff but it was all my stuff and I worked hard on it. Then I played on PTR and was blown away how good it felt. I was hyped. I was stoked. I was having fun again even with the crappy live version because I knew it was coming. Then they stealth changed it back to even worse garbage than live. Now I want to quit.

Yea same with all good bow players i know.
They all thinking about quiting the game now. Will probably test live 3vs3 and quit the game.

As much as it pains me to say I can completey get on board with the jump shot fix or the crouch cancel fix as those could allow you to skip or shorten windows. But I don’t think the directional change is a bad thing, it is simply a tactic to juke other players into missing a shot and required a fair bit of timing to master in a fight. It can give an edge but it can also screw you over and wasn’t required in a high skill ranged matchup. It gave people who were already good something to get better at.

Everyone here indignant about these silent nerfs like the devs are trying to make the bow worse but how do you know they were intended? Maybe they tried to fix some movement related thing and messed up the code.l by accident.

Changing movement doesnt change hit boxes and arrow direction. They did stuff under the radar. No doubt in my mind. They didnt even document “movement related” changes at all. Bow movement was almost perfect in the first two patches. There was no need to touch it. If they felt a need to touch it then it should have been documented and explained. Too often they dont document important changes that players are going to figure out. This is not the first time, nor the second. third, or fourth. Then they come up with some excuse “oh we dont do that on purpose, our paperwork just got messed up” One of the first dev videos they literally laughed at us and about it for thinking some stealth changes were on purpose.

As I understand the bow problem in live was mainly the projectile hitbox which was small and it was increased.
There were already threads talking about the overtuned Bow and the DEVs must have realized they were creating another BB.

So the arrow direction and hit box got changed? From what I could tell from the OP and from your earlier comments, you were complaining about movement changes and how it felt less responsive? It’s within the realm of possibility the devs did some unintended rollbacks when they were removing that thing where you can swap weapons in midair and change directions, plus the change to how far you dive when you prone while sprinting. Those things affect all weapons so the code could definitely become mixed up.

Then they need to do better coding.

Yes arrow hit boxes were decreased from previous build. I believe its the same as live now where an arrow can go through an armpit. Yes arrow direction is off the charts weird. It can go way up into nowhere. It can just dissapear through target etc. similar to live now. They literally made movement worse than current live which was my biggest initial problem with bow. I never even used any of these “advanced” movements. What I do know is the bow feels worse than live right now and live is already complete ass.

People all acting like bow was some overpowered weapon when it wasnt. Acting like it will be meta when it wont be. Leads to unnecessary changes to bow that turned it into utter garbage. Meanwhile Im watching fire staff/IG/VG absolutely wreck in arenas for the last week.

This arrow rng is honestly the worst add in the small hit box reduced dmg and the root is back

I guess some dev got shit on in the arena and we get a bow nerf now instead of a buff

TBF in the first devs vs content creators 3v3, one of the devs had bow and got shit on.

2 weeks whitout enter, waiting for new patch. And now see It xD
Bye bye NW.

I’ve never seen a weapon that got nerfed so much, you removed every possible skill gaps for it
Playing bow against all the heavy armor players is already hard enough.

I had hope seeing the bow update on the ptr to get back on the game but once again devs decision took my love for PvP and the game in general away.
