These skin bundles are the epitome of manipulative and predatory store tactics. You know good and well the majority of players do not want every skin in each bundle. If someone wants 2 skins, 1 from each bundle, they are going to be swiping over $100! This is NOT okay!
You are targeting players who have bad addictions, serious issues with money management, and preying on the fear of missing out.
I am ALL for supporting a game that I enjoy and that provides value; however, in this case the value doesn’t come anymore near the price we have to pay for these.
This is a BIG MISS on your side AGS. These bundles are straight offensive and a slap in the face to both new and old players. You can make just as much, if not more, money by providing them as both separate skins and bundles without frustrating and taking advantage of your playerbase.
If this is going to be the norm for this game, I will go on my way. I have enjoyed New World immensely, but I have plenty of other games that treat their playerbase respectfully that I will give my money and time to.
If you want to make money for your game after initial purchase, take a look at other stores such as GGGs Path of Exile. They are largely profitable and provide microtransactions in a very fair and respectful manner.
Some people don’t really care about how a game team treats their playerbase while some of us really do.
I am brand new to this game, as are many due to the RTA event. This is one of the first impressions that these players are seeing from AGS, and it really can set the tone of what to expect.
There are also people that cosmetics are a HUGE feature that they look forward to. Some of the biggest topics even for this game I see consistently is:
When is transmog?
Why can’t I dye my skins?
Ingame “barber shop”
…and the list goes on.
There are many companies that are starting to rise up that really do care about their playerbases, and it adds a whole other element to gaming that many of us enjoy. If AGS is going to take advantage of clear psychological marketing and online store tactics, there will be some that will leave as they have very little commitment to a game they have just started playing.
It’s not about shitting on them, That’s the odd thing here. I’ve played FF14 for a few years and when people “shit” or complain about something. They don’t take offense on it. The devs take it in as something they need to work on.
We spend hours on this game and we point things out to make it better.
Pretty sure they could’ve sold those skins without any uproar for a 20% price increase, but isolated.
I’ve said it another place. I don’t mind spending money or supporting things I consider worth. But this here makes me just fullstop not buying anything anymore till the next expac.
And I was literally the kind of player who’d login to see what’s new in the store just so I can spend some money.
I won’t anymore. I rather buy 3-4games of steam and play those, while if they would’ve sold them normally I probably would’ve not the slightest problem to spend 60eur+ on buying what I want this week and maybe the same amount next rotation.
This is just predatory to see how far they can push it.
It worked likely with the desert bundle, so now they’ve just doubled it. If this works it’s gonna continue or be even worse after the next update. Or maybe we’ll even get lootboxes or a battle pass XD
It’s just their last attempt to cashin on this mmo before they fully jump ship onto their main one.
I have made one thread so I have not spammed a single thing. I have not abused anything or anyone. I have not said anything offensive. I have not said anything that should be considered ridiculous.
I can see it being annoying that many people are frustrated with the same thing, but you do have the option of not reading the post.
