Slow after melee attack / dodge reduction has drastically reduced skill ceiling

I have, I don’t main IG. I’ve played melee majority of the time I’ve played the game. There are multiple ways for a melee to make ice shower a non factor.

Either you have no idea what stagger is or you must be smoking something, stagger has gotten less and less since preview with even just recently skills losing stagger and mobs losing stagger

Stagger has not increased at all since preview, only decreased

Some people forget and focus only on OPR enviroment when archers or muskets can go without any issue or without anybody like roster master, company leader saying they cannot, like most guilds do and force melee parties for wars. Meanwhile melee can participate and enjoy both, for range like bow users - there is not so many slots for territory wars, many guilds do not take even one.

Melee is the best hybrid and compromise if you want particpate in wars, play OPR or PvE.
Somehow melees still dare and yells about nerfing everybody around. This game is doomed by their own greedy community without ambitions and naive devs

Community does not develop game. Amazon studio does. So each and every stupipd mechanic and broken weapon or skill is their fault. And to be honest if community would balance this game it would be much better game. Community does play game and does understand more or less how mechanics works. Devs dont.

Yes, this is certainly the case. Community the only thing it sees is its own interest and this section is a perfect example of that

Community is the one whining about most stuff,devs reacting to that.
This is the main problem in new world,casuals have too much impact on game quality where as other good games such as moba’s devs are listening pro players not casuals.

to improve ur game u need to get feedback from high skill players not casuals.
A bad player who doesnt have a proper gear or doesnt know how to play against “x” weapon dies to it and goes on forum trying to make it nerfed,this is your new world forum.
Where as other games which has high quality pvp game the devs are balancing the game around pro players because u can only improve by seeing the high level.

You can’t balance new world off of ‘pros’ or highly skilled players. New world doesn’t offer a significant level of skill gap from the people who are legitimately mechanical inclined and those who are not.

Yes you can by simply releasing cross ranked matchmaking for your pvp nodes,you can observe high rating games,even talk with those players on their stream etc.

That wouldn’t magically enable pro’s to appear.

Rend and root for even 1s is not a non factor. Coordinate your stuns and roots and you’ll see a difference

Both can be avoided by simply not walking into the ice shower.

That would enable players who is good and who is bad at the game which gives devs enough to see what is good and what is bad,do you even think before posting?

NW forum community in nutshell

So to give perspective I am a melee player, i prefer using spear more than bow. But if there are two guys on me who are really bad at general skill and 1v1’s, they will still kill me as long as they are running sns,gs because the dodge translation change rewards button mashing.
I even tried GS and Bow, while i clapped a couple players in a 1vx, moment they get an SNS or a GS its over. You just can’t outplay semi decent players like you can in a 1v1. Before the changes, with good positioning you could manage a 1vx as long as your skill is high.
Now, you just can’t. Its not just about ranged, its about any form of kiting without hatchet.

Not it would not. The only theoretical way would be to introduce 5v5 ranked, and that would still be who has the better team composition.

Step one do 5vs5,10vs10,20vs20 pvp node → Step 2 Make it ranked → Step 3 Oberserve → Step 4 Get feedback from players who is on top.

A player without resillience dies to hatchet thinks hatchet is op this is your fucking forum and u think this is the way they should balance?

Because it’s still entirely dependent on team composition, armor perks, and weapon perks, not who is ‘good’. There isn’t enough mechanical skills in new world to set baseline ‘good’ vs ‘bad.’

Its expected that community will give feedback. But its devs job to figure out why there is feedback and make a call. They get paid for what they supose to do. And what they supose to do is to figure out if community is right or wrong.

Issue is all devs do play mele builds only. And even with what they play i can bet money they dont play much. So they dont understand what is reason behind players feedback.

But even assuming there is no feedback or it is ignoed as it is. They should understand how mechanics they created do work if you comine them together. But they dont. Just look last ptr musket nerfs:

They didnt know each musket players do convert 50% of dmg to some kind of magic dmg, so they nerfed 50% trust dmg but buffed that converted part.

And even assuming they dont know game mechanic as good as players, they shoudl liseten ptr feedback from players. But they dont. They ignore.

Issue with mele slow killing mage builds was pointed out. Im one of players that said it will make games unplayable moment it goes live. But it was ignored.

Issue with mortal emp would make muskets stupid op was pointed out on ptr, but was ignored. And so on.

Conclusion: deves have no idea how their game works and dont listen to player base that do understand how changes they do will affect gameplay. So yea, they are bad at their job.

PS. Way they chose to change someting is like in every corportation: excel tables. So they look into average dmg, kills and other stats and they make decision based on that. They look half variables they have ignoring other half so changes they make do not work after they implement them.

And you are right, they should look on stats they have but only for top 10% of players and bottom 10%. Average stat for whole player base is stupid and have no value.

? What does it matter with mechanics,u are simply watching players which is using proper gear,proper builds, this is mmo.You can balance it when you see it around best,this is exactly what nw needs. Players who doesnt use solid gears against builds can learn from thme as well.

If I dont have a good gem balance on my gear,good gear for against certain builds ofc I will get punished,this is knowledge issue on noobs thinks x build is op when they dont use proper build.

It’s not just an MMO, it’s an RPG aswell. One with a gear tier system, and doesn’t have a class system. It’s inherently terrible for balancing because the only way to accomplish base line testing would be having the exact same gear and stat point investment. The only thing you have that can determine skill level is mechanics, and there simply aren’t enough in New World to determine balance based off of ‘professionals’
