Crafting in this game is stupid. For a myriad of reasons, the chance of getting Legendaries is just one example. Its a waste of game time and resources for a gain in frustration.

You clearly haven’t crafted in other MMOs.

Working as intended. Some times luck isn’t on your side. A 1/6 chance of a legendary is pretty good. That is, assuming you have the trophies, food, and gear.

And anyone who’s crafted in tons of games, knows that without RNG your crafts are only worth the materials and then there is really no point for crafting. Unless, it is a game designed to specifically encourage social dependency and the crafting class is actually a class, and not something EVERYONE in the game can learn.

IE SWG weaponsmith, armorsmith, ect.

YEah that’s just a chance of getting a legendary, when even 99% of the legendaries are shit/unusable it’s a monumental waste of time/mats.

This was the 3rd 10x bags crafted for a guild member.

I can’t tell you how terrible I feel for them when I watch their materials go down the toilet like this. Crafting a good item is still a feeling of Relief instead of a feeling of Satisfaction.

with the introduction of golden scarabs. no lego’s are useless anymore. 2 perk guarantee makes it usable at least. Sounds like you just need to go play a game without RNG

Nah actually I want some sort of pity system, RNG definitely has a place in MMOs but nothing drives people away more than RNG with no sense of tangible ‘progress’. I could throw mats at an enchanted/attunement/jagged musket for 3 months straight and never get one and people like you think it’s fine because you’ve already got what you need and don’t want us to be able to compete :slight_smile:. At least be more subtle about it…

I don’t have BIS. I’m still rolling for it on fresh start since my return. But you don’t see me crying about failed rolls, I chased BIS for months before scarabs and this scarab system makes it insanely easier to achieve.

Wrong, RNG is an awful way to gate gear. It’s a pseudo grind because you can grind and grind and never ever get what you need. This should never ever be the case and AGS agree otherwise they wouldn’t have added the Materia system or golden scarabs. There is such a thing as too much RNG or do you think the system was fine before they added timeless shards?

It’s always the same people who cry about not enough RNG - the people who already have what they need through luck and don’t want others to be on an even footing. People like you existed back when we wanted the drop rate on infamy & laz bow to be buffed. I ran that dungeon 200 times and never got that bow until they released the mutator system. Do you honestly really think that’s fine?

Yes, because thats RNG. everyone has the same luck, how is it not fine?

It’s not like you have 0 RNG luck and I have +80 RNG luck or something bro. We’re on even footing here. I had company members chase will of the ancients for 100+ laz, and then we’d have new recruits walk in and get it on their first 5 runs. It’s all RNG and a lot of the player base enjoy it.

Doesn’t matter and it’s an awful way of looking at things. You keep giving these examples as if it’s going to change my mind when all it does is highlight how shitty an RNG system truly is with no pity system. Chasing an item for months to no avail only for somebody else to get it first run is probably the quickest way to kill your entire playerbase.

Just take what you said about luck and extrapolate it across all game systems and see how quickly it becomes obnoxious. Imagine in combat both playes have an equal random chance to just 1 shot the other player. That’s fine right? I mean they both have the same luck, what could possibly be wrong with that? The same applies to gear gating. You also never answered my question:

Yep, I already said RNG has a place in MMOs but in NW it’s just way too brutal, it makes getting BiS for your only build a pipe dream unless you can flip the TP or are bankrolled by a big company (WW/EF owner) let alone having BiS or near bis for multiple builds… Complete waste of time for solo crafters.

I crafted approx. 25 bags and got around 8 legendary. A friend crafted 7 and got 3 legendary.

There is no need for a pity system in this game. Crafting decent gear got a lot easier since launch.

My point was not that RNG is normal. My point was that the RNG in NW isn’t bad at all compared to other MMOs. In New World you basically know the odds, which is incredibly refreshing. As for claims that a solo crafter can’t make their own BiS gear, I know that is BS because I made all mine. Sure, not every piece is perfect but they’re pretty damn close (especially as BiS changes from patch to patch).

The above said, I agree a pity system would be good. If that’s all you’re after you should have just said.

“I’ve had a lot of really bad runs of luck in crafting lately, and I think a pity system would improve the experience”. I’m right with you there, but New World crafting is incredibly lenient compared to most MMOs.

Except it doesn’t work on the crafting/loot system, which is one of the reasons why teh game is dying, crafting as a solo player is absolutely not worth it if you don’t have the bankroll to churn out 30 rolls at once. Even then I’ve seen people try 30-50 rolls at once and even the few legendaries they did get were unusable un-sellable garbage. If you think this is fine idk what to tell you, you’re soft in the head.
