It’s really not a problem. Everyone wants to play obviously, me too. But if something goes wrong they can’t just use their money to undo it, they have to fix it. I don’t know what kind of developers are working at AGS but people freak out about the smallest things because they think their world is falling apart or something.

the funny thing is that we have pay for this game. i can understand on a freetoplay, but not in a paid game. Is from 12 pm to now at 22,40 pm CET the servers still down.

Exactly, if something unexpectedly goes wrong, immediately abort the update and rollback. Then you go figure out what went wrong in a test environment. You don’t keep your production environment offline…

Let’s be clear: the problem is not having difficulties during maintenance, it’s the fact of planning maintenance at peak times in a region twice in a row and not taking into account at all the remarks that have been made on this subject, basically the impression that customers are not respected at all, at least European customers.

We all know that technology can play tricks on us and there can be problems, which is precisely why a maintenance window should NEVER be scheduled during the day, especially on a Wednesday, the day when the kids are not in school. It was really complicated to think and start this maintenance at 1 or 2 am? Did it really have to be done at night on the other side of the planet?

If it was the first time, we would have understood but it’s not the case, it’s the second time they made this colossal mistake, because it’s a huge error of judgment and a very bad understanding of what the players are.

If an update goes wrong, you rollback and put the server online again right away. Then you go figure out what went wrong in a test environment and fix the problem before trying again. Developers in other industries have been succesfully doing this for decades…

If something went wrong and they crashed the databases, be prepared to grind a new character…

I agree that over dramatization is of no help, throwing money onto servers doesn’t get 'em up running. But this is handled poorly, and it isn’t the first time. There has to be a middle way for both parties, and this ain’t it chief. 13h patch times into prime time is inexcusable, sorry to break it to you. If a small indie company like blizzard can have consistent patch policy at times that work for every region I am sure AGS can come up with something, too.

indeed. this is not about the game itself, it’s about managing and coordination. i don’t care if i don’t play today, i will survive without the game. it’s just embarrassing for the company at this point, since it was meant to be a patch for “fixes”. regardless, minor fixes or whatever, you gotta keep that in mind: this stuff can happen, be smart, plan maintenances during night :slight_smile: and you will see there won’t be any nerd raging over this stuff (well at least the most of them)

It migh shock you but IT guys what work on this game and servers also have lifes, families and kids to take care. And you are not entitled to demand after them work in night hours just becouse you want to play game.

we are demanding nothing from the poor workers themselves. we demand from AGS. the company that made a contract with us :wink:

This maintenance thing killed my entire faction on my server…

Here is why:

Purple is 50% and green is 40% on my server. Yellow(we) are 10% of the population and can only control 1 territory on the entire map.

There are only 2 companies on yellow and we are obviously taxed to our oblivion. So those 2 companies came together and collected 50k gold to start an expedition to pvp quests late at night and declared war on 2 different purple territories.

Both wars were scheduled yesterday evening and both got cancelled because of this retarded maintenance. Now we are all broke with no gold no resources and no playerbase. Today I logged in and there wasn’t a single person online on the yellow faction on the entire server.

I mean, even if you are complete amateurs and have no idea about planning, still, a company that had 1 single person with a brain in his skull could refund or reschedule the wars that didn’t happen because of the maintenance.

Quite simply put, when I see the large amount of “Community Managers” on this forum and yet yersterday, only 2 of said CM’s appeared to be active per say, I find it hard to understand how there was so little communication.

By all means, say the standard line of “We are experiencing unforseen technical issues and are trying to resolve the issue, we appreciate your patience” or along those lines.

But when the “unexpected” delay becomes quite lengthly, from a community perspective, I would fully expect at least 1 CM to provide a bit of a fuller informative response. Whatever sector, business or service you provide, it would be completely reasonable for people to make a point when they have had no information or communication for said product or service :man_shrugging:t5:

Anyway I am sure AGS will hopefully take some valuable information from yesterday. Perhaps about Europe aswell as OP makes a reference to, maybe provide some clarity going forward if this might become a frequent occurence. Now we can enjoy the game today :wink::metal:t5:

Well, i got a question. Did they fix anything with the patch? Or they just decided to restore backups to start servers? Cause obviously pylon is still bugged.
