Played two hours ago, came back to play and New World wouldn’t even start up, saying “You must be logged in to Steam” … well I was. So I restarted … then I get the “Cannot find STEAMAPPID.TXT” on the startup now.
The only thing I see different is the EASYANTICHEAT never used to prompt me on startup and now it’s asking if I should let it make changes. Which I say yes to.
Now I cannot even play the game.
Posted in a similar thread but this is the solution that worked for me:
Delete content of “Certificates” folder in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\New World\EasyAntiCheat
AND delete “EasyAntiCheat.sys” file inside this folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat
Edit: seems that this isn’t the full solution but people are discussing a similar problem here:
Same BS as OP. Great update by the way, I felt left out not getting to experience crashes and getting stuck in terrain before it…
EDIT: Verify integrity of game files also doesn’t do anything, going to try full re install, will post if works.
I will wait for an official fix.
I’ve completely removed all EAC files then reacquired through verification. It didn’t work
Seems like it might actually be an EAC error, this thread is talking more about this: EAC error, Can't launch New World - #168 by Vronsik
this worked
Delete the contents of the Certificates folder under x86\Steam\steamapps\newworld\easyanticheat\
Worked for me
Do not, tampering with anti-cheat software is literally the dumbest thing you can do as it will always come back to bite you later on
I’ve made a post about it if y’all want to look, but don’t tamper with the anti-cheat. you’ll make a modified client that the software that sooner or later will detect that you modified your client
Official update is now working
