[SOLVED] Please add Easy Anticheat support for Linux!

That’s great news. I’m going to test it when I get home from work, really excited to be able to play again.

After the update, the game doesn’t launch. It just hangs, just like the ptr did. Anyone know how to get it to work now?

I’m having the same issue, I tried Proton Experimental and ProtonGE7-10. If I find a solution I’ll let you know.
There’s no issue opened on the Proton git so I might open a ticket tomorrow if no one else has.

The thing about proton eac runtime is that you don’t actually need windows’s EAC to run, so you can skip eac launcher and directly execute bin64/NewWorld.exe. Put this launch command:

bash -c 'exec "${@/NewWorldLauncher.exe/bin64\/NewWorld.exe}"' -- %command%

Dang, I was hoping it was just me. Has anyone got it running on the latest version.

Try to use launch command I posted above, I use the same method for PTR build. Not at home rn so I didn’t try it for live build yet, but I am sure it works.

Using this with Proton Experimental + EAC Runtime installed allowed me to login. But haven’t tried much beyond that.

So does this still use the eac runtime but instead the game starts EAC rather than the EAC launching the game.

Yes, it use Proton EAC Runtime, you can check the loader.log under ~/.cache/com.epicgames.easyanticheat/271/.
You can delete the 271 folder, it will recreated on game start.

This seems like the best way to do it, since it doesn’t require modification or moving any files and EAC is still used and loaded. Good solution.

This worked for me. Ran around for ~10 minutes with no issues.
Thanks for adding this support Dev team, it means I can play the game again.

Awesome. that did it. Thanks!

Nice thank you that worked

I just updated the main post with the instructions on how to get the game running. If anyone notices any issues with the instructions, let me know.

I get this error when trying to login to the game. Anyone know how to solve it?

Running Fedora 35, Nvidia 510.60.02 drivers, tested with both GE-Proton7-10 and Proton Experimental

EDIT:
I just saw your post @Rezzafr33 :

Should EAC create that folder? since I don’t have that folder at all.

Yes it should, make sure you have Proton EAC Runtime installed.

Thanks that did it, thanks!
I find it weird that it doesn’t get installed with games that require EAC och at least somehow notify you that you need to install it.

After the runtime is added as a required dependency by AGS it will get installed automatically. Until then, it must be done manually as Steam (the app itself, not Valve the company) has no way to tell that it is a requirement when using Proton.

I tried this, just to check if it´s work on the steam deck, no problem at the menu, but at trying to enter in my server an error happened " Connection error Unable to connect to the server. Please confirm your internet access and try again." I remenber that this happened to some people of the forum a couple of months ago, but in windows, I´ll try later again.
