Some questions as fresh 60

Hey guys so leveled up to 60 on Friday and started the main quest up in the north, and had a quest marker up in the north, it was the tempest heart expedition, but as solo no way in hell I’d be able to run there (tried like 5 times got clapped by that lizards almost always), so I just afked near the entrance and somehow more and more people joined, so I just followed them so turn up it was a myrk chest run and I just followed the zerg and forget to cap the wayshrine for the tempest heart (ran myrk chest run again later today and didn’t forget). So I’ve started to join all of those chest runs and it’s been fun, for for my questions.

  1. There is a guide for the elite chests here it is incase any fresh lvl 60 (or people who haven’t gotten to 60 yet need) link so for my first question, I see brimstone chest runs as well, like wall etc there isn’t a guide for that, was wondering if someone could mark on the map what each acronym in brimstone means?
  2. There is no point in trying to sell my purple gear right? since my gear expertise is pretty low, all the gear that drops is pretty low as well (I’ve bought lot’s of 590-598 cheap purples for my build) so I’m getting quite a low score items, I guess I just deconstruct them even if I get BiS it’s worthless since low gearscore right? or is there something I’m missing?
  3. For gear expertise, how does it work exactly, I read somewhere but not sure if I remember correctly, basically I’m getting bumps from 500 to 600 from elite chests/expeditions, and from 600 to 625 I’m only getting bumps from crafting?
  4. Returning to gear, in NW there are 4 enemy types (excluding beasts), if I were to run expeditions on mutation level I guess I need each type of resistance right? so that’s 4 sets since most of the time when I see recruitment for mutations I see people asking for ward gear.
  5. Slightly related to 4, if I do need ward for each type, what’s the meta setup for on the budget person? 1 ward + 1 useful perk?
  6. Since I’m low gear score, there is no point farming named gear right?
  7. I’m still trying to find a good combo for weapons, been running GS+Bow for a bit and it worked out well, but lately I’ve been using the bow very little in dungeons and hearing most people it isn’t that hot in expeditions, I was wondering if people could share some weapon combos they have fun running?
  8. For gear weight, for a DPS is it always light? I’ve used a build that I found on YT with bow GS medium 350 dex 100 con, can I run medium in expedition or do I need to run light exclusively?
  9. I shouldn’t worry about buying gear from the marketplace right now right? since my gear score is low I won’t be doing any mutations anyways so might as well just farm expertise?

  1. I wish someone would make a guide for chest runs so everyone would know which shrine to go to and where to meet up.
  2. I salvage all greens and blues and items under 590 or with super crappy stats.
  3. I think you understand how it works. If you get a drop or item from a chest that is higher than your current expertise you’ll get a bump.
4, 5. Yeah, eventually you’ll want a set of gear for each of the enemy types. I recommend you craft the Oak Regent or Holly Regent (GS600) set from the winter event. You only need level 60 armoring and you’ll get an entire set of Corrupted Ward and Luck gear (also Elemental Aversion) for not that much money. There are more corrupted dungeons than any other. And it’ll be great for chest runs too. See NWDB.INFO for more info. A corrupted ward set is a great first set for multiple areas and purposes.

As for light/medium/heavy - I’d say that if you are an expert dodger and easily avoid attacks then light is perfect for you. If you are a little sluggish like me, go for medium or even heavy - again depending on your own game play and style.

I’m not sure I have anything more useful to say so I’ll leave it at that. GL with everything

  1. Buy or find a full luck gear set for your chest runs

5 I don’t wear ward gear, but I also follow my tank, waituntil they have aggro, and always stand opposite the tank when fighting. Ward gear helps when making mistakes, you will make less mistakes with time.

  1. Named gear always drops 590 and can be upgraded to leggo 600 after your expertise for that slot reaches 600. So you can name gear hunt right now

  2. You will receive hate for running bow in mutations. Happened last night in a pub group. I don’t mind bows in my groups.

  3. I only DPS in light armor. However, you need to gauge your skills in light armor, dead on the ground is zero DPS. That being said never run only light armor. Wear a med chest, or med legs and feet

  4. If you have spare cash and have already bought a house, I’d say look on the tp for gear. But really what ends up happening is you find 6/8 pieces for your build from pve and then use the TP to finish your set. So don’t buy something without understanding you may find something better tomorrow.

Running genesis is the fastest way to increase your expertise!!

My favorite weapon combos for expeditions are GS/spear, greataxe/hammer, greataxe/hatchet. Fun weapons to use that put a smile on my face; rapier, VG, and GS
