Some suggestions to PvP and incentivize more Open world PvP

Hey! I love PvP in this game, but I feel that its really lacking in content. I’m just gonna spitball some of my ideas and inspiration from others ideas.

It would be awesome if there was some kind of Bounty system where people could hunt others down, maybe by placing kill orders, or simply getting a bounty after so and so many kills. Either in a PvP only zone or be part of the PvP quests. Would definitely need alot of work to make it it work and not be abusable.

I see many wanting cross-server Outpost rushs and I feel like that myself sometimes, but I really think we need to start with Server merges first.

One of the best things about not having cross-server functions is that you reckognize names after a while and who is good. It would be awesome if there was some “Mercenary for hire” function. There is plenty of companies that lack people for their wars and this would reward good players and incentivizes people to sign up for wars and be active in pvp to get recognized.

I think I remember reading about it getting improved, but increasing the rewards from PvP would help alot in getting more people to join PvP. Its currently not possible to increase watermark from getting PvP kills and OPR seems incredibly low chance for getting watermark increase, if it is possible at all?

Maybe we could have random chests appearing out in the open world, thats visible and lootable for anyone thats flagged for PvP, then after 1-5min it spawns and people will have to fight for it.

It would aslo be awesome if battles over Forts was more impactfull. Maybe have them locked for an hour or so everytime someone captures it and reward them with a chest or something so people will come fight for it.

The duel “hotspot” for many servers has become right outside of Windsward, this is really cool, but its actually a really bad spot as its right next to a very popular settlement, and that seems to cause a lot of lag and desync while fighting. It would be awesome if there was a more designated and secluded, but still easily accesable area where people could gather for duels.

Arenas is something nearly everyone wants so not much needed to be said about that.

We also need more PvP achivements. I love hunting for achivements and I have now completed every single PvP achivement. 10k kills went fairly fast with the release of Outpost Rush, we need achivements for 50k and 100k aswell! And if not, maybe make a statistics page so we could track stuff like this ourself.

Wow, one of the few sensible posts about PVP! More ideas like this and maybe there is a chance to silence all the pvp-crybabies and actually make the game better!

How should your bounty system work? Mark a flagged player and offer a bounty or just name someone and hunt her? Only cross faction or everyone not fast enough to logout? And how long should the mark stay? Can anyone participate or only those who sign up for it?

It would definitely need some more thoughts to it.

A PvP only zone would be perfect for it, in open world it would a bit trickier to get it working.

One idea could be that you opt in for this when you accept PvP quests, where maybe one of the PvP quests could be to kill a specific player thats already in that zone. Simply adding PvP quests that requires PvP kills would be awesome.

There are so many PvP cheats and you want to incentivize it more?
All PvP should have been shut down weeks ago when the invincibility cheat was just the start of more and more cheating.

I have yet to econounter any real exploits in PvP on my server. There was some hatchet abuse, but everything else has just been lag thats equal for everybody. What inviciblity cheat are you talking about thats active now?

And shut down all PvP? What exactly would people do in this game then…

They can take their aim bot cheats elsewhere for starters.

Literally never heard of that or experienced any issue with ranged people hitting all their shots, its quite the opposite, they are heavily underperforming in PvP.

“After resilnt fix, bow aim bot just two shot you in heavy voidband.” That proves that its just complete bullshit lmao

I dont doubt some people mangages to aimbot in this game, but thats literally every game, you cant just disable the whole game because of it. And as I said, I’ve yet to experience any aim bot at all, and im a very active player, especially in PvP. My easiest kills is 100% bow and musket players due to how easily it is to dodge them and get close.

First, great post, you have my respect and ear.

Second, I do not really agree with needing a bounty hunter mechanic as this game does not force PVP and well, if there is nothing that creates a bounty, then not much to hunt.

Unfortunately, most the PVP systems I would suggest similar to what you mentioned would be abused and what not. To spare yall a book, I will not give an example of how it can be abused to force flag people who do not want to PVP.

Third, AGS has yet to provide a proven track record of fixing the current concerns (albeit they are certainly working hard to do it), so advocating for new style system like this might not be a great idea, perhaps in several months or a year.

I totally see that concern. Its just an idea, would definitely need alot of work to not make it abusable.

Just have a zone where you have pvp constantly and the ability to travel to said location and implement the bounty system in the pvp zone along with faction V faction plenty of mmos do this well except new world and also keep the pvp it has.
Edit you could have dungeons in said area quests etc but all done with risk or have control points.

This way everyone can play pvp

I could see pvp flagged player from opposit faction around the same level in the same zone being pit against one another for bonus xp or whatever reward for the winner.
