If we could get a true instanced practice war mode that would be awesome. And even be able to split the company across the teams to practice, that would be best. But even being able to practice against other companies in your own faction. Or worst case other companies in other factions. That would be a huge help!
Right now we try to arrange 20v20 practice open world sessions. Its something at least, but not true war experience. And we can’t practice against our own teammates or our own faction.
For sure. Casual custom wars is definitely part of the solution. It gives people a way to practice and makes it where limiting territory wars doesnt actually take any content away from people used to fighting in multiple wars per night. Everyone would get more wars and more people will be able to fight over territories.
Imagine an PvP MMO, with an exclusive PvP scene? Which can only support the top 50 players in each faction.
Yup this MMO in it’s current state, can’t grow anymore. The established players don’t want to deal with newcomers, other than to dominate them. Nowhere for New World go from here but down baby. OH YEAH BABY! WE ON A RACE TO SEE IF NEW WORLD, ARCHEAGE, OR BLESS SHUTS DOWN FIRST.
Pretty simple really if I start a war, I choose whos in it. You start a war, you choose whos in. Its fair, you just want a free ride off someone else’s work. It cost money and a lot of time and effort to start a war, so simple solution start your own war. In fact start as many as you would like choose who you want in them. Although coming to the forums to complain, because you don’t get in someone else’s event is wrong, do the work your self.
Honestly, the only things I find obnoxious are shell companies and mercing. I think it’s ridiculous that I have to fight the same 35-50 people no matter who I declare against because they have monopolized all of the faction’s wars.
It is heavily implied that, “casual,” wars or some sort of queue system game mode of wars is coming soon. Them talking about instancing wars AND talking about cross-server queue’s not applying do dungeons yet means it is definitely in the mix. Just hold on there brother.
Also, my company brings many newer people in. We take war inexperienced people, coach them through the basics, try to help gear them up, help them expertise grind and do group PvP with them. Once we think they’re ready, they get a slot. A lot of these players are now slotted every war, we’re not some mega company, just a friendly mid-tier company that pushes and wars often. Find a company like this. Joining an already established company, unless you are known, is not going to get you a slot.
I’m not saying wars aren’t gated, I’m just saying, you have to find the right company to thrive and grow with rather than join a thriving and growing company. You could possibly get lucky and join an established one and end up getting slotted, but that is few and far between.
If we were on the same server… It would definitely be my company against your company at least once a week. We don’t give a fuck if you’re the big shot or the small bird, we pushing. lmao.
Too bad 230 ping stops me from playing in EU.
Maybe it’s not as bad as I think it is, but still. Just make alt’s on the other EU servers and do what NA does. Take on the big dog companies on those servers with Alt’s or move your alt’s to the current server and move your main to the traversing server you’re looking to fight.
This is an outstanding idea but I can tell you as a player who is in a mega company that it would not be an issue at all for the companies to move 50 players back and forth.
As it stands with all the pushing I see a ticker-tape of “XYX Left the company” and “XYZ Joined the company” messages. Most companies also have a large amount of alts so they wouldn’t even have to move 50.
One solution would be to only allow players to change companies once a month. This would put a huge hurt on their ability to push with satellite companies.
Oh I agree completely. These same 50 folks moving from shell to shell is the issue now. That is why I suggest a 7 day CD for being able to be slotted in a companies war after joining. I don’t want them to stop people joining new companies altogether because that affects the pve folks who don’t want anything to do with the territory system in the first place.
Maybe an idea to combine our suggestions is to have a “War eligibility” system where you have to have 50 members and sustain that membership for 30 days prior to declaring and falling below it resets the CD? I like it but know it’s easily abused with alts non actives and the like.
These are not mutually exclusive issues. I know players that have left for both of these reasons. So the players that duped and exploited have significant power advantages over other players. The suggested changes to wars curbs their ability to exert that power over the other players in the faction. A direct solution would be great, but fixing wars means you won’t necessarily be fighting against these people in every war for pretty much any territory. They will have their one territory to defend and merc out maybe one war per night and that is about all they can do as far as territory control. The rest would be in casual custom wars and you can choose not to fight them there.
That is the thing we are wanting fixed. Requiring the fighting company to slot the roster from their rolls and imposing a 72 hour war CD upon company change will solve all merc and shell issues.
I get that casual wars are on the way and that is great. But, we need the territory control wars to also be fixed, so that we don’t created a segmented game where a couple companies control several territories each, making a significant amount of gold, while the other companies are relegated to casual wars with no such rewards. And its not just the gold, but the glory. Seeing your company flag over a town and being able to defend that town against your peers is what is going to keep the war PvP scene appealing and rewarding. Casual wars are good as practice and for nights where you don’t have another war, but are not a replacement for fixing the obvious issues.
I would hate to require someone stick with a company that they want to leave. Companies are the foundation of the social aspect of this game and we should not limit people from coming and going until they find the right fit for them. I propose that companies fighting in a war have to slot 40 or so players from their company and no player can fight in a war for 72 hours after switching companies. This will allow people to move companies freely for legitimate reasons, but it will make shell companies and full merc wars impossible.
I have seen many companies with 80+ members but only 10 log on. All you have to do is not clean your roster as people take breaks from the game or quit. Instead of a requirement of companies to have a certain number of players, make it where they have to slot a certain number of players. If you have to slot 40 members from your own company, you have to have 50 or 60 active players. Put a 3 day war cooldown on company changes and these companies will not be able to just merc out, have people join just for that night, or create shell companies to manipulate game systems.
Ive said countless times that town control in this game is not about factions but about company is a serious mistake,99% of players dont think the map has anything to do with them,Who has the enthusiasm to continue to play?
I like it. Only allow 10 mercs per war and have your roster locked in and ineligible for any other wars. I think the period of time would need to be longer though. 3 days folks can still juggle 2 territories with the way the invasion/war system works. I still like the number 7 for the lock out period.
Would solve 90% of the issues I think right off the bat and can’t be that hard to implement.
