Sooner or later, loaded dice will be 0.1 gold

This does not come as a suprise i’d suppose, as all one-time use items lose value over time. However this game severely lacks high-value lootable items that arent equppable. I dread the future of looting the LEGENDARY loaded dice, only to remember its basically useless.

Imagine being a completely new player, looting a legendary material or “piece”, thinking “Oh damn this MUST be worth something”. Going to marketplace, only to realise its LITERALLY 0.1 gold.

As of now, there are four (on old servers) items that are worth more than 10k that are lootable. Loaded dice, stacked deck, armouring journal and precision armouring tools. This game now, to make opening boxes (which is an integral part of the game) more interesting, needs to introduce super rare, high end items that are one time use, but destroyed in the process. That does something specific, not something that gives your character its benefits forever. What could this be? No idea. But right now opening boxes is less valuable that farming hyssop (Which by the way is not a bad way to get currency, im not dissing the Hyssop).

Coming the new patch, with trophy mats being more accessable, this will only further the speed of making all trophy mats worth less than 1 gold, leaving zero reason to open boxes (non elite boxes).

Some examples of items that could super-mega-duper rare and valuable

  1. An item that changes the attributes on a legendary BOE to int, str or focus.
  2. An item that combines two legendary BOE, making them combine their stats randomly
  3. An item that upgrades a epic item to a unique, giving it one more random stat.
  4. A perk item thats BIS for PVP
  5. An items that taints a legendary item, giving it a special effect, with a chance of destroying it

Yes, i’d like a deeper crafting system. And yes, I’m and old path of exile player. These suggestions are not nessecarily doable, or something i’d like them to add, its just a general way of thinking about non single-time use items. Their worth is always high because people use them/destroy them.

Yes, golden scarabs are a way in the right direction, but is extremely surfice level.

One other way to keep the items worth is adding a NPC that buys them, but I dont think that’s something we will EVER see in this game.

Tl:dr: Trophy mats are becoming less and less valuable, the game needs more legendary usuable items, that should NOT be single-time use to gain its power endlessly.

The latest PTR update only changes the combat trophies. Luck trophies are not included in this.

The sentiment here is that value decreases over time, luck trophies was one example, but not the point of the post. I dont think 1000 gold for forgemasters notes or w/e is unreasonable. But with the new change that might well change to 100 gold, or 50 gold, withing 1-3 months.

Any trophy materials besides the ones for crafting GS bonuses have always been worthless, it’s just community sentiment combined with limited supply that gave them artificial value.

@Prasinos333 Fair enough. Regardless of trophy mats, my point is the same for legendary resources, or schematics. Cant imagine the pain of being a newbie and looting such an item.

Good, they’ll learn quickly that not everything shiny is gold.

@Prasinos333 Respectfully, I disagree, from a game-developing standpoint this is something that could drive people away from the game. The dopamine rush from getting something legendary is one of the things that keep people in the game. Be it void ore or a legendary drop. I dont think its unreasonable to believe such items perhaps should have value?

And what about all the weapons that are legendary but have bad perks? Should they no longer glow because then that will disappoint players after already receiving a dopamine rush?

No, but you know that the item has the potential to be worth 500k, thats the whole idea. The far away hope of getting that mega-drop, that just keeps you going and going. A schematic, trophy mat, a legendary resource, never has potential.

they definitely need to add extra uses for these items, including feathers and saltpeter as well. The heartgems were a nice addition to add extra use cases to those, but we need more consumables for these items.
