This certainly sounds like a game issue, however, I will share something that happened to me about 2 patches ago. All of a sudden, sounds were not as loud as they used to be, and I was turning my volume way up to hear anything. I figured the in-game volume settings had been reset, but nothing seemed to fix the problem. Checked out my various sound control options on my computer and could not find anything.

Eventually, I tracked it down to the “loudness equalization” enhancement effect on my speakers being disabled. I assume this was from some Windows update, not related to the game, but the issue sounds so similar to what is being described here that I think it’s worth mentioning.

I found the setting by:

  1. Right-click on the speaker icon in the system tray
  2. Click “sounds”, this will open a window
  3. Select the “playback” tab
  4. Scroll down through the list of playback devices until you find the speakers your computer uses
  5. Left-click on those speakers and hit the “properties” button in the lower right.
  6. In the resulting pop-up, select the “enhancements” tab.
  7. Scroll down in the window and ensure the “Loudness Equalization” box is checked.
  8. OK/apply your way out of the various windows.

Again, this is probably not the issue, but worth checking, IMO.

I can no longer hear musical instruments being played, either by myself or others.

Can u dont fix voice of this guy from arena ? His voice is annoying.

This is how my job looks like tbh …

After today’s patch with the Group finder, I cannot hear my own performance music. I have reset my audio settings but it did not help.

seriously the sound issue is quite irritating. Can we get a fix out for this.

This is really bad, now, when they fix sound issues they will cause some other issue.

After testing loads of different songs and musical instruments, it seams it’s just “Windsward Inn” that dosn’t play any sounds (shame as thats the one I am best at).

Update: “Pass less Travelled” also plays no sound.

Sometimes my whole sound it’s almost gone. Every time I log in it’s different. Some day it doesn’t matter if I re log and my sounds stay bad

I think it’s fine for me… I hear my gear moving, I hear grass sounds when I’m on grass. I just wish there’s an option to turn off all the crafting sounds in Windsward… it’s constant banging.

I deactivate the music, because every time some mobs see me and I don’t kill them, this attack music remains in a loop, even if I enter a settlement, the threat music continues, so I deactivated the total music of the game, It is a nuisance but when there is a queue on the server or it is to restart the game or disable the music.

Its strange that i can play and hear the first 6 songs on my playlist but all the ones below are just muted when i try to play.

All my other sounds are working as normal.

I have a problem specifically with music (and some others in my company have reported this as well) in that we either can’t hear other people playing music, can’t hear our own, or both. Sometimes, porting to a new location fixes some of it, but it’s hit or miss if it works or if the sound again vanishes randomly at some point.

I had every sound working after patch, but as soon as I joined a lobby and did a dungeon all the footsteps went away and it still haven’t come back. Every other sound and song is working, except only Windsward Inn somehow

Another thing I’d like to mention is, I would really love to have the music and ambient music on in the game, but its way too annoying that every time you aggro something you hear these drums go «bam-bam-BAM-bam-bam» repeatedly.
I just rather play the soundtrack thru Spotify.

@Luxendra. Thank you for looking into this! Has there been any updates? I and many others are still hearing paper foot steps as our sound effect.
