Recently I got queued with a Spear + WH guy in Arena. Eragone something his name was.
Dry Tree

We played couple games together. He said his stat split was 50+ str 200+ dex and 200 con. I think he slightly lacked gs to do 50/250 and he had some mixed numbers but the point is his dmg was nuts I did not expect that.

Not to mention the amount of CC this combo has. Spear is probably the only weapon in the entire game where every skill is usefull in the right composition. Sure some are stronger than others but is a very well-rounded weapon, solid design. It does not require a buff in any shape or form in the current meta.

If you buff it in a way to be a zerg point cap weapon in wars it will be an absolute terror everywhere else.

What server is this?

you can make a thread like this about quite literally 50% of all abilities in the game, most weapons have 2-3 good abilities and 3 dogshit ones

I played ~10 OPRs yesterday as a heavy 200 con spear. It was fun, spear is strong, yes, bit cyclone is … I had a feeling that I was griefing my team when I was using cyclone, sorry.

TLDR - cyclone is the worst spear ability. One of the most unused abilities in the game.

It’s animation is so bad, by the time it ends my stamina restores in natural way.

3m push back on cyclone - useless in PvE and PvP.
Cyclone hit registration - it feels worse than maelstrom.

Current cyclone that is considered a meme ability for troll builds: slow+leeching+pushback(no stagger)+stamina on hit(which is not helpful as you’re animation locked for ~2 seconds).

Cyclone that people want (+ CC + utility):

Option 1: 4m pull + root (GW, maelstrom) + plaguing perk

Option 2: 1.5-2 sec AOE stun (shockwave) + plagued lerk

Option 3: give it knockback (would be overkill as spear has sweep)

Option 4: give it double damage perk (insatiable GW, incinerate)

Cyclone needs buffs.

I’m pretty sure AGS can already see how underused some abilities in the game are: tondo, mighty gavel (in PvP), cyclone, whirling blade, rending throw (10% rend is joke),

Shame you’re not EU guys, I could use some like-minded players around.

First off your clearly doing it wrong.

A good spear user is using medium or light not heavy.

Secondly post a video please because cyclone is amazing for point fighting.

Third spear can easily shit on any other melee 1 v 1 until maybe Gsword is released.

You can dodge trade until you juice a bruiser, bait his shockwave and then perforate and straight abuse a bruiser. They should never even really touch you if you know how to iframe…

Spear doesn’t need any more buffs. Its amazing in wars too as a clump render with a rapier attachment.

Try get a war slot as a rapier spear cylonist - they will laugh at you and will slot another GA WH

Cyclone misses 80% of the time even in clumps, it’s not even close to maelstrom AOE

Also it’s 130% WD vs 220% on maelstrom
Push back vs pull and root
Slow vs enfeebling

Cyclone is in a bad state rn, even though other spear abilities are fine as they are

Valhalla.

Yeah, it’s pretty gnarly. Add in an Enfeebling skewer spear with Thwarting counter and some damage perk, attune or vicious and replace cyclone with skewer due to it being 3v3 and it’s disgusting. Spear is in a great spot whether it’s 1v1, 3v3, 20v20. It doesnt dominate 50v50 but it’s still very good.

Spear overall is good, but cyclone is

I wouldn’t say most, but in the sense of being war viable, yeah, I’ll agree.

There’s better options, but being an unkillable rend bot that has good single target damage that takes an entire Main-Ball to kill you? It’s a solid heavy on point build.

If you wanna compare it to other builds that are meant for more than permo staying on point and constantly dishing out 45% worth of rend?

Yeah, it’s on the lesser side of spear. Doesn’t mean it’s bad.

There was a 4 stack of spears in a couple oprs I played yesterday. About a deadly as any 4 man you can build, no way to fight back with endless staggers and massive dps. I have a spear set and it fun, but like hatchet to strong for how easy it is to play.

It’s actually interesting to see 4 spears vs 4 bruisers, but I think bruisers are more oppressive and bursty

Definitely more burst but if you had 4 mediums and 4 medium while both stacks of 4 have a pocket healer?

If they’re all equal skill level and well say an 8/10 on skill, the spears would win no doubt. Doesn’t take much to I Frame GA/WH.

I’d say at a lower skill level the GA/WH wins though.

I think a mixed ball is best.

Something like 2:1 ratio mixing in IG/VG’s and BB/IG’s.

in a 5v5 dex/assassin players absolutely shit on bruiser/mage groups, in our company 5v5s no one wants to practice against those groups
