I love the spear and how versatile it is with so many different weapons. Definitely an underappreciated weapon, imo
Underperforming in PvP as well

Negative. It has so much versatility, cc, and stick damage it needs some sort of caveat.

sweep/coup de grace still doesn’t work in PvP as it should
neither does javelin
Take spear ,use it in few dungs or open world slaughter of mobs for few hours
Then take it to OPR/War or Open World PvP and you will realise very fast how badly they broke spear
Sure ,if he approaches target that stands still…then sure …unloading your skills will end any player before they can react.
or simply drain their stamina with other ranged weapons or gs/hatchet…
not a single weapon in this game should be solo only .
The caveat is that you can’t cancel literally any of it’s abilities once you let it fly.
This isnt a very good way to look at spear, Spear has the strongest light attack in the game with amongst the best range. You dont even need to make use of any of spears abilities in order to deal a truckload of damage! My light attacks hit for 3.5-4k on Light amors consistently, and 2k+ on bruisers. Just by light attacking
You should only look at spears abilities as a way to counter others, if they use a readable ability use sweep, if they dodge or are in a movement skill use skewer. If theyre in a long animation, use perforate.

Highly agree, it just has a very unusual playstyle so people arent too ken on learning it or adapting to it

1 year ago, we used spear with pristine aquamarinee combined with ice gauntlet. You were using ice wall and ice storm, then switch to spear to rend and deal ice damage and you just delete ppl off the map.
Spear is the most dynamic and hard weapon to master. The only that actually requires some degree of skill to use.
A friend of mine named Danzo uses Spear in a setup like that aswell but with Void gauntlet, he goes for root > oblivion into sweep big damage bursts and orb of decay for healing
