but ranged is op and is the priority nerf right? glad to see at least one person knows what the actual meta is. Seems like everyone just turns the blind eye to this.

With the changes to light armour dodge rolls after being hit by melee attacks (which already applied a slow), cc is not necessary to stick to a light armour ranged player. If it’s still too hard to stick to a light armour ranged player, then balance the length of the slow by making it longer or stronger or increase how much the dodge roll is reduced.

What they shouldn’t do is keep cc chains in the game and not consider how easily you can hit the combo starter or how easy it is to execute the combo. Baiting shield bash is a risky business when the windup is so small, the netcode prone to stunning you even if you react in time on your screen and failure means getting hit by 4 abilities.

I tried a game where I used 5 freedom perks, oakflesh and stood in my sacred ground. No change, chain cc to death.

I literally hsve no option to counter play other than to equip hatchet or change to a strength build for the grit! It’s awful :disappointed:

I like playing with vg even though it’s as weak as a worm ! But I can’t even swing the blade in this meta !

Grit doesnt prevent stuns.

It is dogshit but cc into burst is only way you can kill ppl couse of how healing works. IF you cant cc burst then dmg you did will be healed up no problem and no time.

Until healing is reworked i dont see pvp working any other way than cc burst. I would preffer to have fight i had before light nerf vs bruisers on open world where htere was no healer.

It was always 5-15min fight and it was dancing between close and medium distance where on close bruiser had adventage and i had on medium as light mage. And we both tried to get to our prefferable distance all the time while exchanting blows on our way to or from current distance.

And i think now it wont be possible since we got so much more dmg. But even then it was possible only if there was no healer around. With healer around all comes to cc, burst → next one.

No one wants CC to be removed, I’d they just put a 10 sec CD on the 300 str Perma grit perk, it would work the same as the crit perk for 300 dex, you would still be able to time your grit for specific attacks, adding a skill cap to melee which is pretty faceroll easy to play, and make you fair game like everyone else within that 10 secs on cool down. Rather than being able to ignore almost all stuns and staggers coming from other non sns, hammer players. Meaning you would actually have to pay attention and dodge animation and be more cautious with you’re engagements instead of just being an unstoppable juggernaut in a sacred ground, just as many sweaty bow or musket videos you can find of people abusing damage, you can find of melee players abusing grit. It isn’t the ability to stun that’s op, it’s the ability to not be stunned, which forces ranged to have to fight you in a way that involves us kiting you and annoying you because we are kiting because you will just grit our stuns. If we stood our ground and fought you fair, we would just be food, perfectly timed stuns can happen but if you miss time it by even a split second you just wasted an ability, then you just get stun chained and die.

or just give 10 seconds of CC immunity after you have been CC’d.

How annoying is it to play against triple hammer in arena? Just spamming aoe stuns constantly. you cant engage them at all because all 3 monkeys are clumped together spamming their braindead aoe stuns constantly.

Chain CC will forever be dogwater gameplay, there is no skill involved in disabling your enemys keyboard control what so ever.

Same goes for the SnS/hammer combos that can 100-0 you before you get out of the chain.

Spear/bow also has a dumb one, with the vault kick into explosive arrow into javelin into sweep into perforate. its so dumb.

Every chain CC combo is dumb, doesnt matter what weapon is using it. And the reality is that everyone is forced to run these CC builds because you are at a big disadvantage if you dont.

Well on the bright side, the dex players combo with the exception of vault kick (easy to predict and dodge) can be completely gritted, the sns hammer one has 2 stuns that even go through grit. And dex users don’t spam grit so they can be controlled by your team mates, meaning you can be peeled for, against a str cc combo this is not the case, the only way to peel is with damage unless you catch that perfect split second time window before they chain the next light or heavy, or use one of their many gritted abilities. I don’t see no diminishing returns as a problem so long as everyone has to submit to the same system, str players get to ignore it then proceed to complain that ranged is op, I play bow spear as a main, perf jav skewer on spear and evade explosive rapid on bow, BiS. And I play a few bruiser builds for fun and they literally counter musket and bow, I don’t even lose to the best musket or bow players and bruiser isn’t even my main build. It’s perplexing, alot of the people that complain about ranged attacks have terrible positioning and terrible movement. And I think Perma grit and healing plays a factor in it because they get to ignore many aspects of the game because of it.

Since stagger was removed on normal hits and now we can use 6 abilities at once instead of 3 this is the combat we have and it won’t change, for healing reasons and for range reasons. Sadly they will never rework combat to this degree again to change that

True but thats all it does. Too many forum posters act like it makes melee users invulnerable to all cc types.

They could move it to 200 con as a perk unlock but if they removed it from str melee then str melee would be nearly unplayable for pve with nearly every mob attack disabling your character except for small windows of certain abilities and heavy attacks you use that come with grit. Players would quit in droves.

without staggers, healers would actually never die though. The 100 → 0 combat we have right now is because healing is wayy too strong, and there is no such thing as a “sustain” dps build to eat through sacred ground healing, nor are diseases even close to effective enough. Healing has to be totally reworked and then burst damage gutted, then staggers won’t feel so impactful. Every MMO has hard cc though, and with the implementation of stoneform everyone has an extremely powerful cc break/immunity, every minute/minute and a half. Honestly I think ultimates should just charge on a timer instead of on damage healing, the current way they charge favors some weapon combinations way too much over others, also degenerate fort dummy ultimate charging, making wars extremely one sided.

Exactly! Now you understand why we are complaining. You have made my point perfectly, Strength players get grit but for the rest of us, unplayable !

Have you tried using the void blade recently! If you want a challenge just try killing someone with that. You end up bouncing between players like a pin ball.

I don’t disagree with VG, but the devs stated it wasn’t intended as a pure damage item and was intended to be support. Unsure why the community wants QoL things to be removed from other weapons to be reduced to the lowest unplayable common denominator though. That’s a crabby frame of mind.

Its like melee players saying all ranged should be removed from the game since melee players don’t have ranged trading capability to attack bows/muskets/FS users.

That’s why you balance pvp and over separately, it’s impossible to balance them both the same. For pvp, grit has a cool down, for pve grit doesn’t have a cool down. I don’t code and I don’t make games but I’ve played many successful mmos, it’s not rocket science. These aren’t even new concepts. These existed 10-15 years ago, AGS really just has no idea what they are doing, and they don’t even know what kind of game they wanna make, one day they’re a pvp focused conquistador discovering the Americas themed game, then they’re a PvE focused wow mythic + copy and paste themed game. Then they want ranged to do damage, but not do damage, at one point they were an open world pvp game which is what most people fell in love with, then they’re focused on wars (boot leg version of wvw in GW2) , oh people don’t like that, battlegrounds and arenas (copy and paste from wow). Nothing they add is their own, they just copy other games because they lack creativity, the only thing they have that is their own is their crafting system, which is dog water, it’s supposed to be a heavily pvp influenced game and they can’t even let us guarantee the perks we want, it takes months and hundreds of thousands of gold to get the BiS armor you want. There is no reason we shouldn’t be able to force all the perks we want on the very first craft. RNG based crafting is mind numbing. I can go on and on. At one point they were innovative and doing their thing, but they lost touch with themselves after they almost flopped on release due to lacking endgame content and releasing the game anyways, thinking they would have time to release content, completely underestimating how fast gamers can actually breeze through a leveling process when they take a few vacation days. I can go on and on. Don’t get me wrong I loved the game at one point, but the direction they’re headed is sad, and if they’re just gonna be a WoW clone, we might as well just play WoW.

To be fair… There is PvE OPR leaderboards and a wins category. Stat padding bows going for damage and kill won’t get wins against a NORMAL comp. The Dex rats that back-cap all day every day and vulture the stragglers that swoop by to check it out will be out in droves while the bow fucks plink away like they do now.

If anything it promotes back-capping rats, bob the builders and melee to be played more frequently. Especially if they nerf ranged.
