State of PvP and Turning PvP on. Us PvPers have nothing to do

Ok so I held off making this post for a bit cause I thought hey people just aren’t flagged cause they are leveling but that if definitely not the case… So I have 2 suggestions that would fix the PvP system and actually get players to want to play the game!

Cause right now most level 60s I know are just farming watermark places once a day then doing nothing for the rest cause there is no content no open world PvP nothing for us PvP lovers to do.

Without one of these 2 fixes I give the game maybe 3 months till people quit and never come back.

Fix 1 - Give more incentive to turning PvP on … the xp boost is pointless at level 60 - Give us 5% more luck , Profession and weapon level xp – This alone I think would make 50-70% of people want to turn on PvP to enjoy those benefits!

Fix 2 - MAKE PVP SERVERS AND NORMAL SERVERS - This has been asked for both betas non stop so I’m actually surprised you guys didn’t listen to this suggestion at all cause this would of kept half the servers alive already …

A big part of your player base wanted the old new world that you have watered down so much with PvE that this barely counts as a PvP game anymore, What happened to always being flagged like in the Preview event ( The most fun I’ve ever had in this game was the Preview 10 day event… Ever since then its been just downhill for us PvPers)

Hello, Kmackgames710! Chronically unflagged player here. Well, I’ll keep this short and sweet.

I have zero incentive to flag-- hell, barely to chat or interact at large-- whilst AGS remains so completely mum about the mass reporting rash afflicting the game. Streamers are practically running rackets with it, amidst the other hairy issues it’s caused.

As-is, it kind of seems like people just get to get away with it because ‘eh,’ and apparently all these bans are manually curated and nothing’s automated, it’s just EAC nailing people or something.

So I avoid any chance of punishment by minimizing my involvement in all vectors that would potentially lead there… including waiting out this storm of exploits, bugs and this abuse of their system before I go flagging myself up.

After this point is just me rambling. Short and sweet part is over, now is time for internet soapboxing.

I don’t know. What I do know is it’d be nice to nab that news from them rather than from a bunch of second-hand grapevines, and yet I seem unable or perhaps they just don’t believe the issue is one worth a frontal address-- a move I firmly regard as a mistake. Are they afraid of it resulting in some sort of information leak? Would that leak be worse than players being wrongfully punished for playing the game? More importantly, are they under some kind of delusion that this won’t be the thing that kills their game? Exploits, bugs, all these things can almost get thrown under an umbrella of endearment, ‘personal quirk,’ the kind of thing you ‘get over’ to play a game and experience it. The threat of being even temporarily banned on no reasonable premise, though, is absolutely terrifying. (Well, as far as ‘things that can happen to you in New World’ go. Spiders are much more terrifying. But I digress.)

It’s not exactly shyly documented, either. If we google it we see items addressing this dating back to August, which suggests A) this issue is not new to release and B) they were (made) aware of it well before release. So are they unwilling, or do they believe that this value of this system outweighs the damage it’s causing? I don’t think that’s a good hill to stand upon, because I think word spreads like wildfire and most people I’ve asked who don’t play the game but follow gaming news know, firstly of it, that it’s a buggy mess with people abusing reports. That-- I get my world is a microcosm and not the whole thing, but dang, that isn’t a good rap for your game to have. And it’s over some of the dumbest thing too-- which is ironic, because an automatic ban system should be a really good way to totally nap on bots as it basically does the work for you, but while it seems to be effective in layers for suppressing players, the bot issue seems to be growing by the day. Brings me back to those old side-street MMORPGs you’d find on ‘TOP MMO LIST’ or whatever site, and they’d have anti-bots that would make you do something like answer a quiz question for a modest reward. Fully incentivized for players, but next-to-impossible to bust with a bot.

But this is getting away from me pretty quickly here. I’ll add it never helps when there are known exploits about too. You can call me juvenile, but I’m picky on how I spend my time… incentive and PVP servers would be a huge leap in the right direction. They just have to get themselves into racing form in the first place.

I have played a couple of survivals with open PvP and everyone is dead because people want open PvP and then when they die 20 times from zerg they stop playing. The same problem will probably be here because you can not do anything in the game just keep fighting for everything and the best solution is to have a PvP zone with some resources or something so that people will be willing to go and it will be active and PvE players can just run around and do other activities. What is missing is some open ZvZ wars, arenas etc. Every day I see a million posts about PvP servers, and I bet if zergs got to you, half of them would go back to normal servers.

Was gonna wait to 60 to perma flag… but guess I’ll do it at 56.

You waited too long. There was no reason to wait.

The problem with waiting for racing form is the game is already dying so a simple PvP only servers or more incentive will help them NOW and keep people interested while all these other bugs and exploits get fixed … cause lets be real it could take them till 2022 to fix all that stuff when those 2 options are actually very easy for them to add and could realistically be done in a day or 2.

I want to help keep this game alive NOW and in the FUTURE cause right now … players are falling… fast … I’m on a server (US WEST - UKU PACHA) that had a 2k person que the first week… now we have max of 1100 players ever on … thats like 5x less people on my server alone… and even big servers like El Dorado with new characters open … also basically never has a que… please Throw your life staff on this game amazon it needs to be healed now!

PvPers didn’t have anything meaningful to do over a week ago when the invincibility cheat and lag exploitation came up.
Why do any PvP at all when some cheater Company will just use a cheat and take it all away?

Outpost Rush is probably the last useful thing left unless the cheating will be properly addressed by AGS.

nice idea

I believe this is why eastern MMOs have a type of special resource zone and the PvP objective is to go to that zone and get stuff (which is solely useful as a score counter). This focusses where the action is. Zerg or not, you’re likely to find another zerg and that theoretically evens things out. (Until people start nightcapping, anyway).
Which is not to say their OWPVP doesn’t have complaints. Just check out the Swords of Legends Online forums…

You’re probably right.

I’d be fine if they just removed the equipment damage from PvP deaths - I’d leave it on all the time if it wasn’t for this.

As it is, being lvl 60 and having the PvP flag on just punishes you.

When I say ‘racing form,’ though, I mean ‘eligible to race at all.’ The ban abuse and exploits will capsize this game rather handily, and while I do respect the solution is not a wand-wave away, I don’t know how much I respect the varying levels of communication.

As-is, the game can only stand to lose players. New players will come in to a mess of monofaction ownership, gross taxes, and a bunch of disabled content on top of lag exploits and report abuse, not to mention everything else (weapon skills not really working stands out).

If it takes until 2022 for the exploits and the ban abuse to be fixed, I worry that that will be far too late to do anything for the game. I respect PVP servers and incentives might help mollify these issues, but once that warm-fuzzy new-and-shiny feeling wears off, it’ll be right back where it started.

That’s why I think viperous issues like players abusing aspects of the game exclude it from being in racing form. While all these other games might not have the gameplay appeal, world appeal, or other appeals even then that the Big Contenders in the MMORPG ring don’t have, those games also won’t have people being banned because a company didn’t like them while gold and fishing bots run amok, and also don’t have PVP modes people do some jank crap in to just outright cheat and totally circumvent having to, you know, play to win.

Image is important. ‘This game has weaponized bans and cheating in PVP’ is not a cute look for it.
