I agree - its too strong, it needs 2 adjustments - overall CD should be slightly higher, CD reduction after executing it should be 10%.
Thats it - you can predict it easy, you can dodge it easy - I have 0 issues against rapier players, without this weapon bow and musket is dead.
clearly not - bow and musket should not provide you with hypermobility, thats the off weapons job. Rapier is needed for that, with spear you can only go medium and play bow more or less as the off weapon and spear the main.
rapier is the way to go to get a chance in staying ranged against the gap closers of other weapons or the simple fact that people can run at you and your attacks will allow them to catch up cause you stand still.
bow is fine so far, musket needs a redesign of the trap, it should be aimable to trap someone - so you can see the place the trap will drop off and you have a range to decide the positioning. If this is implemented musket is fine.
lifestaff/rapier - used as escape only
bow/rapier - used to escape and setup with riposte rend if you get the counter play, else its just distance gain and 1 heavy attack for t. rend.
musket - only escape - you dont even go aggressive with 50 con and you use riposte stun for a trap setup
fire/rapier - blabla
high skill cap duel weapon - I dont even get the point its not used as the main weapon, I define main weapon as the weapon to manage the core aspect - dmg or heal. Rapier is not the source for this.
These changes are really over the top.
I do agree the cooldowns should be increased, but this may be a bit much. Fleche can be changed to 25 seconds, evade to maybe 8 or 10. Riposte however needs to be changed in various ways mechanically speaking. A simple reduction in cooldown is not enough because you can run reduction talents and the change is circumvented.
Repostle probably needs some changes like it only stuns a single target, or its only whats in a 90 degree arc in front of the player.
The whole reason people use rapier boils down to mobility. Riposite isnt op at all and half the time good players dodge or it doesnt hit at all. Range uses fleche in combination with la rolls to outrun 20 people. Everyone else uses it bc melee mobility is horrid. Pvp plays out like a 3 stooges show. Melee hits once then the light armor guy roll/fleche away into the night. This is only gonna get worse with the new patch changes to dodge especially with light armor. Wrong weapon abilities keep getting nerfed due to low skill players complaining about minor stuff vs the core problems of pvp. That being movement and the ability to to leave combat at will. Bugs aside ofc.
I accurately articulated my opinions on rapier’s problems. Many, including the developers, agreed. I’m happy with the changes that have been implemented on the PTR and am eager to see how they play out on live. The rapier may need further changes but we’ll see.
They nerfed Rapier to unplayable now - so dumb. I love when PVE devs make pvp changes lol. Before all “good” players would just turn their camera to avoid the riposte and the shitties complain waahhhh riposte too good. Get gud.
Now with the dodge mid swing, riposte is actually worthless. If you get hit by a riposte you are a bot, or I am a god of timing. The nerfs are not warranted.
Evade getting a double cooldown… wtf?? Fleche gets nerfed. So the only skilled weapon where you have to use your brain to play gets nerfed cause kids are getting outplayed and cant 100-0 them in one GA / GH combo lol. Devs so clueless.

No it wasent, The Fleche cd increase was ok, the repost cd increase was a little to high ( I think that 16 seconds cd for a ability that requires a second party to activate with no grantee of stun or sundering repost counter would be more fitting) and now to the saddest part Evade… going from 6 sec to 12 is just a joke and saying “to reward people who use it offensively” , wtf so you destroy the only good alternative for damage and safety and then give us nothing in return, THE BLOOD TREE IS STILL USELESS DEVS!!!. This just goes to show that the devs either dont care about enabling divers builds like the musket / rapier combo that needs a strong defensive weapon, The musket has no built in defence and people are already complaining that “we just climb mountains and sit there and shoot”. Or that the DEVS just dont play the game on live servers with good players, on my server the rapier is not a get out of jail free card they have learned how to counter it. And isent that what a game is supposed to be? overcoming and concurring your enemy. I would not be this mad if the musket actually had any good defence to aid you but all the musket have now is range, the trapper tree is so shit even with the “rework” of stopping power that the only thing useful in trapper is sticky bomb… the trap could have been a nice tool if it wasent so slow and shit to deploy, the only way to ensure a good trap is to stun you enemy with repost and then throw it in his face. and dont get me started on all the “power loads” that root you in place for 1.5 seconds each time you use it, then the shooter stance that dosent have grit and you can get knocked out of. So please devs explain to me how should I defend my self with all these new nerfs to my only defensive option?
And please going forward maybe try doing some incremental changes during the ptr month, so that you can find what works and what dosent it is for this reason you have a ptr not to slap us silly with all the crazy nerfs 7 days before the patch goes live when you will have no chance to rebalance and fix things and leave us up shit creek without a paddle for another month.
Please do a part 2 review of the rapier. You are killing the people who invested in gear sets and made them 625 just to utterly destroy the weapon with these absurd changes.
Riposte will be useless with the ability to roll mid swing. Evade’s nerf is for no reason and just slaps the rapier player base in the face. You are hurting its dps also which is already horrible by increasing the CD to 12 seconds.
Fleche is blah, small tweaks here and there I think will lead towards balance. Not obliterating the weapon and screwing over every rapier player cause people can’t 100-0 them. This needs some serious rework.
@Luxendra Riposte does not need to be nerfed because it’s receiving a nerf based on attack animation canceling making it less likely that attackers will attack the riposte.
Evade cool down can be re-worked to 12 seconds as it is in the PTR, but with a 50% cooldown reduction if a light or heavy attack is landed within 1.5 seconds of evade being activated. This would accomplish the goal of nerfing evade’s defensive uses while not nerfing the offensive capabilities.
