This fixed the issue for me too. Ty for finding a solution.

This worked for me. Was super quick and easy and worked right away
Like, share and ring the bell
Repairing the game files and disabling the steam overlay worked for me. Everyone should try this.
Worked for me
1: Sign out of Steam
2: Completely delete the “steam_api64.dll” file in the “Steam/steamapps/common/New World/Bin64” folder.
3: Right click on the Steam.exe file and open properties.
4: In the window that opens, check Compatibility/Change settings for all users/Run this program as an administrator, then click Apply/OK.
5: Run Steam now.
6: Right-click on Steam Library/New World and open the Properties. Open Game Files from the menu on the right and verify the integrity of the Game files.
7: After the verification is complete, restart Steam and log in to the game.
Good luck…

Hey guys,
Let me share with you the official response to this issue
Please try this out and tell me if you have any other upcoming issues
you can enable steam beta in the settings to fix this problem
Thank you, it worked for me
Steam seems to have fixed it. All I did was close steam completely, reopen it & updates started. Proceeded to open New World again & the issue was resolved.
Also had the error, easiest fix, go to the game folder, go into easy anti cheat folder, run easy anti cheat executable, select uninstall, play the game; nothing more needs to be done, took me all of 2 minutes to fix this issue.
It’s a lot easier. You just have to go to your computer, go to your main hard drive, user, the folder with the PC name, app data, roaming, and delete the easy anit cheat folder. this will be recreated after restarting the game and the problem is resolved.
After verifying the game files, I clicked “Steam” and “Check for Steam Client Updates…”
It worked after I updated the client.
I can confirm, deleting the files inside the folder “AntiCheast” worked for me at first try. Thanks!
This is true! Two friends last night had this problem and did this to fix it. Remember to ALWAYS back up your folder before changing files to prevent corruption!
You are amazing for finding this fix!!
The following worked for me:
In Steam Library: New world > properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files.
Once it is finished, log out of your Steam account. Steam will shutdown.
Launch New World which will prompt for you log back into Steam.
Once you log into Steam New World works like normal.
