Still playing, why?

I get there are bugs and issues that need fixed. Main issue currently is this is an MMO, all these gold and item dupes will kill any economy the game has and it will be impossible to fix. I love the life skills (fishing @ 200, etc) but why would I bother doing any of that when there are people who already tanked any kind of market some of the rare life skill items had?

Sad part is, I don’t even know how they can truly fix it. If they don’t do anything, people will quit. If they do some form of wipe, people will quit.

It’s Noon EST on Monday and there isn’t a single dev/manager post made today.

Because I enjoy the game

I quitted it today, I had 600 gs weps, skill, a competetive company, but… I don’t want to play, invest time on a game where some random dudes can bug everything and the game only survive with a full wipe…

I hope everyone still playing while they have fun. I had fun for about 300 hours, so thats all.

I feel this in a weird way.

The World we were given is unlike anything else out there in the MMO verse, as far as I’m concerned. The Survival game aspects of it make it very unique. Despite the world itself not really feeling very alive, rather uninspired, and often copy/pasted, it still feels cool to run around in and interact with. I wish it interacted with itself more, predator and prey creatures duking it out and stuff, but it is cool to run around in.

As soon as you get into actually trying to gear a character, progress beyond the first dungeon at level 25, when you start getting heavy travel, repair, and respec fees, the game loses its fun for me almost immediately. There is so much broken, missing, bugged, and the functional meta is so stagnant so fast, that it’s not even worth it to me to try right now. The combat at a supermajority of the time feels clunky, you either engage one enemy and fight it very technically, or you round up an entire village and AoE them all down, and there’s almost no inbetween.

The game does a terrible job of convincing you it’s even finished with its intro, a half-of-a-half-assed “combat tutorial” that doesn’t even make sure you held down your heavy attack, an intro boss fight that literally only requires LMB, with a confusing cutscene that subverts your actual gear equipped (if you take off your shield/gear, it’ll put it right back on you for that scene), then it just loading-screen’s you right onto some random beach with no explanation as to what just happened…but it’s still cool.

I have absolutely nothing compelling me to hunker down and grind out the endgame. There’s nothing compelling me to invest into a single character or play style whatsoever, and I can’t make any alts so I’m just deleting guys left and right, making new characters on new servers here and there, and just slogging through the first innocent few levels when the game feels new and exciting. As soon as you actually try playing it, it all falls apart and shows its true colors, as a rushed, uninspired, broken, amateurish offering to the broadly bored and desperate MMO community.

I’m enjoying it, but am beginning to wonder where all this is going. So I’m building a character for now. If I go do something else for a bit, I’ll have something to come back to. Right now it seems like a lot of running around, gathering, running redundant quests, etc. etc. There are lots of good things about the game, but it’s getting tedious.

endwalker isnt out yet

dont get me wrong here  there are still things that i enjoy in NW but day for day i am enjoying it less.

i would have less Problem with this bugs if AGS would fix them faster waiting a week for a bug thats breaking a part of the game is simple sad

The game is enjoyable enough if you ignore any sort of competitive aspect.

That being said, I do sincerely appreciate those who sought out end game early and have identified all the reasons this game isn’t hardcore friendly.

I’ll go back to gathering resources and hoping things get better some day.

I play New World because I hate the game and want everyone to know it.

Well, no MMOs worth playing, so scraping the bottom of the barrel.
But ultimately, I am not end game, I do not rely on the market, so me and my friends are happily playing through without being impacted by all the crap going on and having a relatively bug free experience. So for now it is fun

Sunk cost fallacy.

Real answer though: I still enjoy the game enough doing the solo/personal stuff that the bugs and exploits for the most part don’t affect. I’m banking on that they can get the game in a good place to where all of it’s aspects are relatively bug and exploit free and the content works as intended and at that point I will have all my crafting and things leveled so I can start really playing the good stuff.

Hopefully they will improve PvP as that was my intended end game but it’s not fun right now. I can wait on it but it really depends on how long it’ll take. GW2 expansion doesn’t come out until February so if it hasn’t improved I’ll just go back to that.

Super real answer: Actually sunk cost fallacy.

Because we enjoy the game? And duping videos and pictures looks display only, unless there’s another one where they can post it in trade post, crafting or other players, so far videos only start from the trade window, drop item, item in inventory then end of video, and everybody lose their mind… or the dev confirms it

Because I have patience, have seen enough MMO launches to know this will all be fixed.

Bones of the game are great.

I am enjoying the game.

I am not a snowflake without any real world experience who lives online and thinks it is easy to have 100s of thousands of players in their simulation at the same time and have everything perfect.

Shits broken, they are working on it. And if you stay off the forums and Reddit the game is still fun and thriving.

Still low level, really enjoy;

The Fishing and scenery is top notch, its like New World is a cross between Never Winter Knights and Far cry smashed together in a WoW like Universe.

Exploring, so fun just running around jumping cliffs and rocks, looking for secrets.

Want to get high enough level to see other areas.

Cons
Not a bunch of people doing group pve content at lower levels.
Cannot stand always being animation locked.
mobs seem to be the same every area with a new hue or name?

I stopped last patch due to Crafting bug that makes my character turn around…causing the craft to fail…so can only refine resources…so its annoyed me along with the other bugs to stop playing the game and come check forums every few days to see what’s going on…if it can be fixed or My Favourite…just give Lip Service but overall abandonment of Game since they made their money back with Initial Sales…

This Reminds me of when Phantasy Star Universe First Came out…it was Cross Platform and all Playstation owners found a way to dupe gold and Items and killed the game off in less then a month…I quit playing it as well…and have never been back to it …no matter how much they changed it…

I feel New World will suffer the same fate…

I’m taking a temporary break from it. The hatchet bug has skewed pvp heavily in the majority of the realms, any form of PVP at all honestly has too much risk to participate in now due to extremely high repair costs. All forms of magic are crap currently because of all the bugs, and with the massive gold duping and voidbent ingot duping currently happening, my market is currently trashed.

I simply feel zero motivation to level up my crafting, my gathering, and my overall general level. I have read the issues with end-game and none of this sounds fun at all. I’m tired of mining for iron ore for an hour, only to come back to town and quite literally gain one crafting level and that’s it.

Unless you can join a major company in your faction, half of the stuff that can be considered fun is just not accessible to you. At least in my server, the majority of the companies that do not currently own territory have lost most of the gusto that they had in the beginning when it came to claiming territories. Wars rarely happen, and world PVP has been reduced to a bare minimum.

The economy is broken, PVP is dead, weapons are fuk. Idk man. I loved this game, but it has become so damaged. I have no clue what the devs will do to fix this. Maybe pull a FFXIV and come with New World, Even Newer World Reborn. Who the hell knows.

All I know is that I am legitimately sad about the current state of the game, and like I am having a break-up with someone who I truly thought was my soul mate.

Just having fun is that still allowed in MMOs? In all seriousness. I enjoy the mindless gathering and love just watching a show alongside the game. It’s kind of my “chill” time.

Genuinely not experiencing 90% of these bugs at a face level, and out their questing and slowly grinding through resources while cracking jokes with my partner as we play.

I find if you play a MMORPG as a slow burn journey to max instead of rushing out of the gate that the experience can be more enjoyable. As a bonus because it takes longer for me to get to max, more bugs will be ironed out as I get to that later journey and zones will be emptier for me to simply enjoy the game.

Personally I cannot wait for the first true desert zone to be added, Beduin armorsets and curved swords please!

I am still playing because I am having fun. I roll with a large group of people and I have a blast running with them. I like the fact that I can just go out and gather if I want and still feel a sense of progression. I don’t feel any pressure to level and I can play the game at my own pace.

nodody talk about you are not allowed to have Fun. I ask why people still playing. Try not to see this post negativ.
