They are partly because of AFK’ers, so you’re wrong.
You mention seedy but i don’t think you quite understand the definition of the word.
When someone is breaking the TOS/EULA in plain sight, they get reported. Simple. When we report someone breaking the rules, we’re not the ones doing anything wrong. If people didn’t exploit the AFK mechanics there would be no need for anyone to report them. Get it?
The studio developing the game is an Amazon ‘division’. They belong to Amazon but they won’t get more funding just by snapping their fingers.
There’s this thing called a hierarchy and Amazon (Like many other companies) uses a hierarchical structure instead of a flat organizational structure, where everyone answers to someone above them, and everything has to go through the ‘chain of command’ so to speak.
For instance. If the guys in marketing need more money for their ad strategy or sales strategy, they need to send a request to the higher ups. They can’t just go to the bank and take money without approval, and in some cases, the higher ups can say -no- you’re not getting more money. Work with what you have. I can testify to that because it happened to my team more than once in the past.
You’ve claimed to have worked in the ‘industry’ and that you’ve ‘built and run lots of MMOs’ but you don’t even know how a company is structured… This is yet another indicator that you have absolutely no clue.
No, i’m not going to defend someone who exploits a game mechanic and feature, holding the queue hostage and preventing people from logging on, when under normal circumstances they’d be booted for being AFK for too long. Pray i don’t spot you using a macro, because if i do, i’m reporting you.

Here’s yet another indicator that shows you having no clue.
You can predict the amount of players from pre-orders, but only from pre-orders. You cannot predict launch day sales. That is literally impossible to do.
No. Quality assurance is for making sure the game works, and they haven’t failed on that part as the game works quite well. Control and Testing was done by alpha testers and beta testers along with paid testers. Hence the game got delayed multiple times, so they could improve it.
The queues are not a result of a lack of testing, nor quality control. It’s because people are ignorant and blind. They picked a high pop server rather than a low-medium pop server and expected no queues.
These people have never experienced actual queue issues unless they played WoW when it released, or the original FFXIV and many other past MMORPGs.
The only ones in the wrong here, are AFK exploiters and people like you who defend them.
I swear, if i didn’t know better, i’d think you’re Derek Smart behind that forum name… Which would explain quite a lot actually…

I’m guessing you are making it into the game but are still AFK after leaving while you are in queue. That’s the system working as intended. Makes me feel like the person who is on a phone call wait line who afk’s from the phone and then gets mad because the customer support rep answered but no one was there and hung up.
You aren’t entitled to stay logged in the game while you are AFK. 
For your other issues of bugs in the queue, I’d recommend create a post in the bug forums or bump one that has already been created to help increase priority in fixing it.
I can personally say I haven’t experienced any issues with sitting in queue.
You’re intentionally obtuse and conversation with you is useless. You’re inability to see the double standards you’re applying makes you a waste of time.

This is one of the most painfully ironic things I’ve read this week.
This degenerate queue holding crap is something you are defending and using and are now protesting because they stopped it. You care less about all of the legitimate people logging into the game as you essentially turned off THEIR ability to play the game by doing this.
Good grief I’m seething at the complete lack of self awareness and actual hypocritical double standards.

In order for that to be true for the first instance, I’d have had to jump 300 places in 20 minutes. Not likely.
In the second instance, you’re saying I got put back into queue after being afk DC’d? That’s not the way it works either.
Sorry, I know you really want to defend Amazon and their very fun game but the server situation is a literal joke at this point.

Unfortunately it’s hard to help you because you lack specificity in your replies.
Previously you mentioned the term ‘kicked’. You get kicked when you AFK, that’s different from things like disconnecting, or queue bugging out. Unless you can provide a screenshot showing else wise? I haven’t seen it.
You simply want to whine about not being able to idle in game all day. Because I don’t care enough I’m just going to categorize you in wanting to go to work, gym and eat while maintaining your slot on the server.
You can try and make it seem otherwise.

The server Im on, Maramma, I think…just sucks. Toxic community, queues when you want to actually play. Would love it if those server transfers were available right about now so I can transfer off to a quieter less sweaty server and enjoy my time before I decide to shelve new world.
I mean kicked out of queue. And if there was a list of all the queue error messages, it would be easier to point out which ones I haven’t gotten. When I join in the mornings there are no issues with the game. I just can’t get through a queue.

Please explain how you can say this? defend the little guy and tell people to stop shilling for Amazon when you are literally giving a carte blanche to people who are denying other gamers time on the server?
Nobody said it’s all their fault. But since they started kicjing AFKers my servers queue has dropped from 3hrs on primetime to roughly 30 min. Can’t argue with the numbers man

This is the exact thing I’m trying to explain to people. The players are not denying you time to the server, Amazon is. They should have had a better plan for maximum players online and maximum players registered for a server. Your placing blame in the wrong place in my opinion… I understand why you feel that way, but it’s just presupposing the the players are the problem when they’re not.
They all spent their money to play the game and they should be able to play it how they want to play. If the game were free, it would be a whole different conversation.

I’m not blaming the players, it’s AGS’ fault that were in this predicament.
HOWEVER
A) avoiding the afk timer is exploiting the game systems, so cheating
More importantly,
B) You are stepping on other players necks by not allowing them to play while someone is AFK. You are just trying to justify exploiting and inconsiderate behaviour. How you are defending this while saying “people have a right to play” is dumbfounding.
People have a right to play and that’s why I’m speaking up , because people like you think it’s okay to let yourselves have as much time as you want and deny other players that time while AFKing
Other people paid good money too, and I’d your running into a wall for hours while other people are sitting there waiting to get in you’re an inconsiderate scumbag, sorry not sorry.

Why do people AFK? Because of the Server Queue and the internet telling them it might be the best option, while you’re in, to play when you want.
Why are the Server Queues long? Because of the inability of some people to choose a low pop server, because of a relatively low server cap on population and AFK’ers.
The stupidity is cyclical.
Join a low-med pop server that is open. Server Status | New World
If you’re unable to play with your friends, and they won’t move and would rather sit in a queue than to play with you, it probably says more about you, or them, than the game.
