In certain quests where mobs are not very common, there are other players who stand around waiting for people to kill things and then immediately start skinning them even though they’ve not contributed any damage. Please can you fix this. I’m sure in the last open beta there was a 60 second rule which prevented other players skinning your kills. Why did you get rid of that?
The problem with this is it prevents nomadic skinners from cleaning up the world of carcasses no one wanted. I can get TONS of leather by just cleaning up the wolves people are spamming.
However, I get your point, as I was victim to this myself.
Proposal - have a lockout, say 60 seconds, where only the one who killed it can skin it. After that lockout, it becomes fair game for the cleanup crews.
Spawns are actually MUCH faster with all the people around. Not sure if its tied just to number in proximity or number on the quest, but it was much slower in beta/alpha when the population was lower.
How many times have you killed a wolf, started to skin it, and it gets resurrected right behind you? That is something I didn’t see when population was lower.
And stop others killing my animals… the Elk, Bison and similar quests are super annoying, the animal runs away and as I chase it someone else in its path just kills it and skins it…
It is not as bad as in beta with faster spawns, but you either watch others steal from you or you steal from them.
I think it will be mostly non issue in few days when people will spread out more over the map though… do not even start me on people waiting for silver and gold ores to spawn… and some are even watching over iron… and hemp.
it’s not your monster if you didnt kill it. They are designed to be monsters that reward a quick kill, if they got far enough for some random dude to kill it, it wasn’t yours.
in the betas that I remember its always allowable to skin on death. Thing to remember is this isn’t a game designed just for pve, Some one is supposed to be able to kill a guy and instantly take his stuff.
so, it would need to be a bit more complicated. Probably not worth the effort to solve. Resource gathering is already non cooperative, why should animals be any different than the other nodes
