So first off I want to say this game has a solid base, and this feedback definitely is not meant to be bashing. I want to see the game improved and be wildly (like “wow at it’s height” level) successful.
One thing I think needs to be done to address that is a rebalance of storage and associated systems. Some of this is just straight off misbalanced. Arrows and ammo for example weigh far too much, same with elemental motes and most other alchemy ingredients.
But most of all - Storage is too small. We need an increase in the base storage per region, the Territory Standing upgrades need to be more dramatic. Jury is still out on housing chests, because just how big the upgrade is unclear.
But also tied to this - Azoth travel costs (Especially encumbrance related ones) need to go down and/or Azoth cap needs to go up.
Also perhaps we should have our storage tied between locations we have houses - so regardless of faction control we can move items for gold between our housing locations. Faction control could make it free to move items between your houses.
I’m not sure this could have been worded any better, this has been such an annoying issue with the game. Yes, it does add to the difficulty in the game but not in a fun or “grindy” way. The issue is like you said it is not accessible from anywhere, I know you can withdraw from another storage as long as your faction owns it, but still that is wayyy overpriced to do that even. To add to the items being disproportionally weighted is, why would tannin and crossweave and all other small itmes weigh so much when you start to gather a decent amount of them. It really takes away from the enjoyment of skilling when you cant even hold the materials and the resources for the skills. If the devs believe it needs to be harder then make it fun, like give less resources per kill, per tree, or something along those lines, but the storage issue is huge. Needs to be addressed.
The house idea is a good one, I like it being accessible from your house anywhere, but if they do that then the house cap needs to be raised or set to unlimited houses you can own.
Reducing the weights of items will not resolve the current storage crisis!!! Reducing the weights of items would allow people to carry more of that item per load. Which doesn’t solve the main problem. Are headache persist because of the lack of space in Town storage. 1,000 is no where near enough. 5,000 wouldn’t be enough. A minimum of 10,000 spaces in every town storage would alleviate a lot of frustration.
I spend half my time in New World just trying to move around my mats and gear to make room. I don’t understand who thought it would be a good idea to start the storage off at 1,000. This person has never played an MMORPG obviously. I had my Windsward storage filled the first day and wasn’t even trying. I played WoW for years and NEVER had a storage problem. One day to fill New World storage…years to not even fill WoW Storage.
I could list out a bunch of ideas but the overall point is…no MMO has this tiny of storage. You want players to play your game for years to come but yet, they run out of storage daily. DAILY! I love the game but it feels like a chore when playing. I end up listing almost half of my inventory on the trading post for a higher amount just so it can be used as a storage.
NO ONE wants to run town to town collecting materials just to bring them back to the town with the upgraded crafting station, craft, then run back around to the towns to store excess materials again. I really don’t even understand the point of making the storage so small. Most MMORPG players are hoarders/collectors and it seems like New World completely missed the mark on that.
