The storage in this game would have been fine for the survival game you were 1st creating for an MMO where people collect everything lack of storage space is becoming a huge INCONVENIENCE.
MMO’s traditionally expect players to pick up and hold everything! There are so many items in this game that seem to have no use but I am fearful of removing because things change. Are many of these items for things yet to come?
We are constantly having to manipulate inventories to take them to Tier 5 facilities that are constantly changing because of invasions and wars etc.
Doubling the size of storage would be a start. Let us actually play the game and not have to worry about how do we fit in 1000 gunpowder or address the weights of these items such as motes and other items that are very heavy for no apparent reason.
Travel is no easy or cheap in the game. If you want people out fighting and playing the game then allow us a bit more freedom with storage.
Many of us would love to be able to setup a main town as our hub. Let us play the game the way that is most enjoyable to us.
a base expansion of 1000 lbs would be good for me, imo, but i’d rather that chests have more impact on this topic especially for cleaning up the gui in some way. I do not however want to see chests side by side in a house. I think a limit of one should be there to place huge value on it while helping furniture profession in making that. there should also be legendary chests.
We could investigate the idea of chests doing something like “reduces the weight of all logging materials etc”.
you increase storage through standing 25 at a time every couple standing levels.
you buy house/houses and place chests. 1 Tier 3 house lets you put up to 3 chests resulting in 1575 storage added to the max. a tier 4 house can have 4x. you can have up to 3 houses even.
you should sell useless materials otherwise you are no different than a hoarder, and for those no amount of storage below infinite is enough -.-
then you cannot really blame the game for its lack of storage considering your issue lies with houses. either that is due to greed and you not wanting more or pricier or becourse you dislike the thought behind it.
I think that having many houses and using them for a teleport pad is showing a problem with the azoth transport system, and i specifically believe that problem is with the weight cost portion of the equation that handles the cost of teleporting. nerfing that part of the equation should bring down most of the teleporting cost which means teleporting to a city instead of a house is a more likely option.
Many houses also devalue a house and where it is, and generates a lot of unneeded income for companies.
Many chests in a house also devalue the type of chests you have and subsequently the profession its attached to.
Sure, if you have max housing and max chests you’re probably fine on storage. Very few people have that, and it’ll be a long time before people start maxing the available storage through reputation levels. Leveling those already gets tedious after 30 - I can’t imagine bothering to ever get any of them to 300 or even to the level required to see all 60 (65?) storage increase options.
Before this patch temporarily lowered the taxes, the bare minimum to have 3 maxed houses was 18k gold a month (this assumes 5% tax). That is going to be unreachable and/or unsustainable for the vast majority of players unless there are some major changes.
The coin cost of a house and chests is prohibitive for majority of players just to have storage except right now rent is cheap.
The majority of players can just use the trading post as temporary storage for less coin cost per week and no upfront cost.
Trophys are merely a qol item and extremely costly for the benefit outside of specific play styles
Its annoying that max upgraded storage which takes many thousands of coin and thousands of hours of playtime is less than 4x a players potential carry weight and still has a 500 item limit parallel to 350+ crafting mods in the game.
but no really. the storage system in this game is pretty oppressive to anyone with RPG tendencies (aka hording)
usually you get around that by consolidating crafting or vending off stuff you dont use.
problem is your shit is all over the place in different towns, everything is deflated due to excess mats and no stable gold income (for low pop servers), and your only option is to throw crap on the ground which both feels bad and is wasteful.
there needs to be a multi step fix for this.
link all storage chests and allow us to move crap around without faction control. for incentives for territory game, make it so there is a fee that gets negated if you do control the zones.
more emphasis on furniture. chest is fine for bulk but we need more container bonuses for the 100s of other items that do nothing. apothecary cabinet should reduce weight of alchemy mats and pots, armoires should reduce weight of gear. etc. now there is a reason to make the variety of different furniture + gives you a chance to make a nicer looking house instead of plates on the floor. (also food buffs for having plates on a dining table) its more reason to do the housing game/benefits furniture and finding and selling rare schematics
some kinda vendor. vendors in other games are used to set price floors. it helps make you money while also removing excess materials from the server driving prices up. and while gold is relatively scarce you are getting gold back from vendering so should at least be relatively even. i know they wanted a player driven economy but our economy sucks.
The game is just not convenient to play. Everything is staring to feel like work. Friday night and my server is dead. Sad. You need to make things fun to do, not necessarily easy but not a chore.
Crafting is becoming a chore especially if you make a lot of things. Revert me back to what I was making instead of taking me back to square one.
How about motes, If I wan to make Quints why not just take the right amount of motes to get there so I don’t have to have essences etc stored up or make them first. Take the base material and make the higher. The system is complex for no reason other than to waste peoples time.
Thanks for passing it on. I am continually running into storage problems given the crazy amounts of materials needed to level up professions: at the moment working on engineering (ori arrows).
My main base has 4 chests, 110 rep, so storage is around 3100. My various armors and orb mats take up 300 or so, then by far the biggest after that is REAGENTS.
REAGENTS weigh way too much. I can easily get through 2000-3000 in a crafting session which means I very quickly go from holding 1200 weight myself plus 3200 in storage to running out of reagents and moving engineering maybe 3 levels.
In order to make the arrows I need green wood, old wood, wyrdwood, ironwood in huge quantities plus sandpaper in vast quantities (plus a tier 5 woodworking, ours got blasted in the last invasion and we might just get it back Monday…).
Then we need iron ore, charcoal (MORE WOOD), starmetal and ori ore.
And that’s just for one profession.
We need a storage increase and a weight reduction on everything.
Best solution would be to reduce the weight of everything by a factor of ten. At the very least look at reagent weights and reduce those by a factor of ten, that would be a start.
Linking all storages would be interesting but i want to move in the direction of finding ways to make guilds more important. For that reason i’d really like to see the concept of a “paided” bank storage, where you pay gold to have a sort of deposit box you pay weekly like you do with housing. This bank should be universal.
No it doesn’t. New World is still structured so that you need absolutely everything in spades - it just limits you arbitrarily as due to leftover survival mechanics.
in an rpg you usually tend to sell materials you dont need to afford other stuff you need so the hoarding tendency doesnt come from that
Currently my T3 house in a 2x tax town costs 150-180 coins depending on forts taken and such. this town isnt owned by my faction even. so currently a single invqasion or war is equal to a couple weeks.
do a single invasion or war a week or a couple outpost rushes and you have a weeks T2-T3 housing at 1x if you didnt improve standing by a single level…
you can get up to 37% discount from levels, and if you then locate yourself in a town that usually has low fee + owned by own faction and perhaps owned by your company if really lucky. top it off by taking the forts reducing tax before u pay and a T4 building would cost less than a T1-T2
