Strike Three Amazon... You're Out!

Having played since launch over 700 hours, I have overlooked massive bugs and problems to continue playing because I found the game to be amazing. Well, that’s no more.

Amazon has racked up three major strikes from me as of yesterday. Let’s focus on the third as the first two are related to the TP and lots of lost coin which I won’t go into here.

Let me start with this setting - my faction and I PvP’d for several hours on Saturday 11/20 to thwart attackers on our territory. We slowed them for hours, but the cost was massive - huge repair bills and I lost a majority of my repair parts. I’ve been struggling ever since that time. I even did two rounds of crafting 60ish wood bows, but that barely made a dent in adding repair parts. I’m in a horrible state and even a chest run didn’t help. That was just the warm up.

Strike three against AGS happened on Sunday 11/21 where we went to war over my beloved Monarch’s Bluff. Our team was prepared. I had crafted a 575 Void Gauntlet for about 5,000 coin in mats (which I spent most of Thursday and Friday leveling to 20), optimized my new medium gear, created honing stones and pots for many, and our team was all in Discord where we discussed our strategy and confirmed roles.

When the gates opened, we launched into the most horrifying, shocking, and maddening 20 frame-per-minute ‘war’ experience I’ve ever seen in the game - no, in ANY game. We lost not necessarily to a better team, but to a team that predicted the lag fest. Afterward, I sat stunned in my chair. NONE of our preparations beforehand mattered. Strategy didn’t matter. And to think this was the culmination of 700 friggin hours of grinding day to day for this event.

AGS let me down. AGS let our team down. AGS is letting ALL OF US down. They should be ashamed. I lost my home, and now AGS is about to lose another player!

As of today, I have stopped play in protest until these key issues are resolved. The stunning events of this past weekend are piled on top of two previous strikes which AGS never made good on. This weekend, which should have been a glorious victory, is now piled on top of all the massive issues and failures of a would-be beautiful game. AGS is destroying New World right before our very eyes.

I could let the problems and the first two strikes go, but my experience this weekend showed the most egregious failures of a gaming company. It could be truly been magic, but it’s quickly becoming a pile of crap.

AGS, I have defended your game. NO MORE!

AGS, I’m your ideal customer. NO MORE!

AGS, Please FIX New World and MAKE GOOD on your promises and for all of the problems or I am gone for good! One of hundreds of thousands gone.

Yes, even after three strikes and almost all hope gone, I’ll give you one last chance.

ARE YOU LISTENING NOW AGS?! I doubt it.

You have two weeks, otherwise sayonara!

In the same boat as you

I pretty well drew the line last night when my town got downgraded from invasion before reaching village upgrade point, which prior to the patch didn’t happen. Another silent change they made without displaying it.

Title suggests you quit. Text says they have two weeks to meet your demands.

How did they predict the lag fest and how did that help them win? What advantage did they have over you?

One common tactic right now is to crouch and have as many musket players as you can, cause currently lag pretty much freezes everyone in place…so easy headshots. Let alone AoE skills from weapons such as fire staff and ice gauntlet, which are balanced around having a limited area and being easily avoided.

If a more experienced team knows how lag affects people they can pretty much make their own meta around lag, and not wars themselves.

Thats what happened during launch too, people figured out what skills caused most lag and played around it.

Hello again @Skillo .

Educate me here. Wouldn’t lag drastically affect a sniper’s ability to shoot? Or is this assuming the sniper didn’t have lag but is shooting those that have it?

Also, still trying to figure out how one team “predicted” the lag. Another assumption is that the server’s wars historically have lag or don’t have lag. If lag is common, both teams should have known. If it’s not-so-common, than one team took a chance by stacking a lag-ready team just in case?

Agree that some teams can use lag to their advantage, just trying to figure out how one team has access to this advantage and the other does not.

They piled everybody on B with hammers, axes and light staves all in heavy armor (they play and gear differently outside of wars). We spoke with players on the opposing team and they said that was their strategy. How they predicted, I don’t know. I’ll ask if/when I log in again.

I want AGS to know they still have a chance, even after three strikes. But, as I mentioned, I doubt they’re listening, so I doubt I’ll return.

The fact that I am passively capped on repair parts and see so many people having this problem makes me confused. Sure I die here and then but I never worried about spare parts and 90% of the times I log out with capped repair parts. I do reekwater+palace+malevolent+SM(mines and a bit of myrk). Haven’t done full myrk since the patch because it’s tedious AF to kill the acolities or apostle (or wtv the name of the dudes that make mines).
Still, something is wrong with your playstyle in my opinion .

Regarding the lag fest, you said you got in contact with them and they said it was their strategy… That’s not a very solid argument. Just yesterday i was tired of seeing people asking for genesis and Lazarus and said I was selling my orb to 5k per member 1/5.
If you asked me I would say “yeah, 5k per member want it?”.
Did I sell my orb? No… was I expecting to sell it? No…

We call it “lag”, but what ends up happening is that most people will seem stuck in place basically. I don’t know why exactly that happens, but it has been my experience so far

From what OP said, i’m assuming that they are new to the whole aspect of wars, (maybe even their first war), and in this case i wouldn’t exactly blame them.

By the way i didn’t notice the we were already talking on another thread, it was pure coincidence :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I did not mention it but I do all those runs with PvP on while belonging to a faction with no territory. I kill and die a lot

I didn’t read the last of your reply. You are obnoxious

I’ll take your word for it. I’m a Fire Mage and can’t hit a damn thing at range (then again, I don’t feel like I’m experiencing lag).

lol, I’m not proud of it, @Skillo, but this whole working-from-home thing has turned me into a bit of a forum junky. I really need to step away! I did still want to add a few things to that other thread

Imo things wouldn’t be half as bad if AGS did some damage control. Yet, Monday has now arrived, not a peep. They did address a few things and have said yeah we will fix them sometime maybe. All the changes no one likes are staying. Unfortunately New World, as it stands, is no longer playable, but what else can you expect from a team that padded the end game with fake content.

There is good feedback for AGS here. I gather the lag in wars is very bad indeed.

Regarding repair parts: I hestitate typing this as I don’t want to push the price up, but last time I checked on my server repair kits were between 60-100 gold for a tier V. It works out cheaper to use those for your weapons and bigger pieces of gear.

That said, in general I don’t think gear degradation adds a lot to the game, and would probably prefer gear not to degrade at all. It’s just annoying busywork that soaks up resources and inhibits play.

Just a thought ref tone… I agree with your complaints, don’t get me wrong, but in general ultimatums from single players are probably not taken that seriously. ‘Just so you know, these are the reasons I’m quitting’ is fine and useful, but ‘fix this or lose me as a player’ might be greeted with more of an eye-roll than your (useful) feedback deserves.

Thanks for the suggestion on repair kits. I’ve avoided them due to their expense for repairing a single item (I’m all Tier V), but I shall look again if I ever log back in. Yes, I’m upset and being dramatic. I’m simply trying to get ASG’s attention and save a game I’ve enjoyed for the most part… until this weekend. Maybe it’s not the best approach, but I’m going to yell loudly to be a squeaky wheel and vent some real frustration. At least it makes me feel a little better. Cheers!

On the issue with lag: What I have been noticing lately, when entering or leaving a settlement, there is a bit of a lag spike. Every once in a while, I get a lag spike in the wild, but the lag is consistent with entering and leaving a settlement.
I don’t believe the lag has anything to do with my hardware either. These lag spikes began after the updates to stop exploits.

The squeaky wheels get the oil!

Let’s hope these things are improved. I hope you are enticed back at some point

While he is absolutely correct about the shitty state of the lag he fail to mention the fact that his faction on that sever (I’m on it) just sucks. That’s why they get wiped constantly trying to defend and end up having no repair parts while most people are always overcapped on repair parts.

As for predicting lag this shit been going on in every single war for weeks. Idk wtf their faction do or think (and franky don’t care there was a good reason why over a month ago almost all the top players in that faction choose to leave and join the single faction that had ZERO territory at the time)

Every single war has been a lag fest when people cluster on a point so people with figure out the best strat during this mess is hammer spam which was developed by the other faction (not the ones me or the OP are in) We just had a brain and realized on ya that shit is stupid broken in his laggy mess and did what we needed to do to adapt. It’s not like people even doing shit to induce lag, just when you all pile on one point it naturally lags to shit. Wtf are people suppose to do? Spread out so you can’t take a point to reduce lag? The nature of the siege require you to pile on one point.

I agree that this lag is just bad, even worse than before somehow. Even worse than week 1 war lag, idk how Amazon manage to fucking do it. But would like to clarify the situation seeing people are pretty confused. I personally stopped playing for a few weeks now and find wars extremely boring coz its j ust run into the cluster of lag and press buttons. Zero skills on the players part.
