Currently there are three forms of respawn location, excluding Settlements: Camps, Outposts and Forts. Camps are useful if you do not have access to Outposts (due to “home-field advantage”) but, without these, the only way to replenish most supplies is at a Settlement, which can be several KMs from a target. Don’t even get started with random Corruption zones.
This proposal would allow Companies to combine resources into building temporary Field Posts, tailored to support different functions, but can be destroyed by the enemy to limit flow of invaders. Like Forts, these would have hardpoints and gates players can build to defend, and control points for removal, enabling additional XP/rewards for both sides.
Here are possible resource requirements and options per tier of deployment:
** Tier 1 [Requires 50 green wood, 25 flint] – Camp Tier 3 functionality. One custom vendor (can be Outfitter, Arcane Repository, Workshop, Smelter, Kitchen or Traps). One Storage post. “Watchtower” control point with overhead emplacement (select either Fire Launcher or Repeater).
** Tier 2 [Requires 250 wood, 50 stone ore] – Camp Tier 4 functionality. Basic wall perimeter with gates. Two custom vendors. One Storage post. Watchtower in courtyard, with space for deployable cannons/traps.
** Tier 3 [Requires 400 wood, 150 stone ore, 50 iron ore] – Camp Tier 5 functionality. Reinforced wall perimeter with gates. Three custom vendors. Two Storage posts. Two Watchtowers (one either end). Three entrenched emplacements, with space for deployable cannons/traps.
** Tier 4 [Requires 400 stone ore, 125 steel ore, 50 iron ore] – Outpost functionality. Stronger wall perimeter with gates. Four custom vendors. Two Storage posts. Three Watchtowers on perimeter. Four entrenched emplacements, with space for deployable cannons/traps.
** Tier 5 [600 stone ore, 150 starmetal ore, 250 steel ore] – makeshift small Fort (40% size). Strongest wall perimeter with gates. Five custom vendors. Two Storage posts. Three Watchtowers on perimeter, with fourth exposed in courtyard. Six entrenched emplacements, with space for traps.
Multiple Tier 1/Tier 2 Field Posts could be deployed within 750m of a Fort, or each other, but those Tier 3-5 must be placed 1.5KM away, where space permits (i.e., outside Landmarks). Tier 3-5 would also be limited to two deployments from an enemy Fort, with powerful “slow + damage barriers” when construction begins, to allow invaders to set up without instant raids…
If initial tests with this were successful, offshore Field Posts could be added to the game later, in areas where multiple Landmark zones negate deployment.
