As a ranged combat individual my character should be able to utilize their abilities and get in places that NPCs may struggle to reach or are even inaccessible to them. However this is not the case currently. If I am fighting X monster and I decide to climb onto a rock or small building of some sort and cast spells at them I get 1-3 hits in before they decide this is not worth it and retreat, regaining ALL of their health.
My suggestion is to utilize players combat playstyles and allow them to get into places that are easily accessible to us but unreachable or hard to reach by the NPCs. My combat style is not the same as a heavy tank who can absorb all the damage thrown at them, but instead I am rather squishy and throw magic and should be able to do so from afar not in melee distance for the combat to be a valid encounter.
Yeah my thing though is in a smaller space if I climb up a rock or shack the mobs just stand there and look at me and due to me being unreachable for them they regen everything and retreat. I just feel like for ranged combat users if they can get in those spots and its not exploiting then they should be able to take advantage of one of their strengths in combat and not have to be on the ground and constantly in reach of them.
The immediate health regen and the way the enemies ignore the player when the game decides that enemy’s not in combat anymore, especially the times that I’m a foot away from them running melee and haven’t even moved the mob away from its spawn, is lazy and aggravating.
Very much agreed, it doesn’t need a complete rework instead just tweaks to most of the aspects. I like that combat is exciting at times but also needs to be smart.
