Complete town overhaul
In the current state of affairs, companies of some towns can make millions of gold breaking the balance and the economy of the game. They have way too much power leading to a lot of unpleasant situations for players.
Thus, I propose a complete city overhaul.
Firstly, all taxes paid belong to the city and are only used on upgrades and buffs.
All players can now vote for the next city upgrade.
City taxes are set automatically and depend on the advancement of the town. The more advanced the town the more the taxes. Taxes vary from the current lowest to the current intermediate for a fully upgraded town.
Secondly, companies can still “own” a town but any other company can start a war for the town ownership (regardless of the faction).
Wars are companies vs companies, therefore they choose 100% of the roster during the war.
Companies that own a town receive the following benefits :
Tax-free for the town “owned”.
Their votes count as double for the city upgrade.
They get the town buff regardless of owning a house or not in the town.
Guild banners in the town.
Thirdly, invasions don’t occur in instanced areas but in the open world and ANYONE can participate in the defence of the town.
Forts can be used as the first line of defence but the main focus of monsters is the town.
Towns are now built with fortifications. In addition to fortifications, towns have now guards that help defend against the invasions.
There are 4 levels of invasions, from less difficult to hell: small, medium, big and giant invasions for T2 to T5 town respectively.
T1 town doesn’t get invaded.
Low-level players wanting to participate in the invasions can either grab temporary armour and weapons from the town’s armoury.
Invasions can be region-wide with many portals to close and boss to chase if too many people at one point will crash the server.
Kill bosses to get loot (for everyone participating). New handcrafted legendaries can only be obtained during giant invasions.
In case the defence is breached and the corrupted forces win, players will have to repair (with wood and stones) and extinguish fires before being able to use the facilities again.
A new series of quests/town boards for repair will be available.
Add more life to towns :
Add NPC walking in the streets of towns, add NPC in all facilities, add NPC drinking and sleeping at the inn.
Add NPC guard at the entrances of the town and patrol outside in the “sanctuary” area.
Add Captain of the guard doing a speech to the guards in front of the town hall 5 min before the invasions.
Ring the bells of the town 5 min before invasions and make all town NPC walk to their homes or in a cellar at the inn.
Add caravans of townfolks escorted by guards between towns (can also add escort quest).
Other changes? :
Add storage and spiritual shrines as upgradable facilities.
Upgrade storage, add storage + all storage T5 are linked.
When fast travelling, some of the azoth is collected by the town (not a tax).
The governor can use the azoth to open a portal to another town.
Portal will have a very limited duration, 5 min T1, 30 min T5;
T5 shrine opening a portal to a T1 shrine will only be able to maintain the portal open for 5 min.
Portals are multidirectional and have unlimited use.
As azoth is a resource hard to control, opening a portal will always use all the azoth available.
