This is an addition to my previous post and suggests how supplies for the opening siege crafters will be gathered.
The Supply Run is a proposed addition to the current territory conflict-pushing missions wherein the goal is for players to gather materials in designated hotspots within the region and take them back safely to their faction representatives.
Here’s one way to do it:
When people are flagged and gather resources in designated hotspots, they get unique materials for crafting the consumables in the opening siege. They are to be delivered to the faction rep in the assigned territory, and the % added to the push depends on the number of resources safely delivered. These special resources are dropped when killed and can be picked up by anyone flagged. This addresses the lack of open-world PvP and gives people another reason to be out and about.
Players are allowed to teleport to town even when carrying the special material (prevents lazy bums from just waiting in front of the city to steal resources). Companies must strategically plan how they will organize themselves to gather and deliver resources safely. Participants can choose to organize squads, solo gather in stealth, or form a huge zerg to escort their gatherers back to town.
The thrill of protecting gatherers and those teleporting is definitely something to look forward to. Tanks will also be needed to safeguard teleporters from long ranged hostiles! It will be cool to see everyone outside the town flagged and competing for resources again.
(I am unsure how big the hotspots should be. They need to be big enough to allow people to move about but not so big that players will rarely encounter each other. If they are too small, it’ll be pure chaos, and nothing will get done.)
