I think I have come to the conclusion that all of these upgrades that give x buff while y enemies are around just make tanking a whole lot worse. There is apparently a hidden modifier that makes stamina damage increase with the damage you output. The reason to have a shield is to block all these front liners, yet they have all the bonuses they need to counter shield. Meanwhile we are expected to be easily shield broken yet have barely any sources of fortify and rely heavily on life staff buffs.
And then comes defiant stance which I believe doesn’t stack with fortify and is applied on top? May be the best skill we have, but it doesn’t actually do anything for us as shield users.
My only true complaint that is justified however is the animation of shield rush. AGS needs to make that one as smooth as they have just made leaping strike.
Yeah there should definitely be ways to do this. Blocking feels too useless right now. Its good against ranged but melee just destroy your shield so fast, you may as well dodge alot of attacks and since some abilities go straight through shield like shockwave.
The stamina damage from your weapon doesn’t actually indicate the full stamina damage being done, and is being influenced by attribute with scaling, just like weapon damage scales.
Going higher then 200 const (or 210 so you can eat 40 consti food for tanking in PvE) is really useless.
PvP as sword and Board? it is a “decent” secondary weapon if skilled right but only in small scale battles.
In a WAR where S&S shoud be good, it is borderline useless and pure garbage. (Hammer is just the way togo)
Blocking in a WAR is one of the most stupid things you can do, even a heavy dodge has more value then a freaking block. What ultimatly is the reason why you use a small shield in PvP to get a second Enchanted Buff oOo.
Dont know. CDs on s&s are freaking long compared to any other weapon with low battle impact.
And for the Invasion Part.
There is exactly 1 enemy that you can tank. And thats the bear, and even that stupid bear ignored all my taunts in the last invasion and just “random” attacked everything.
The way Invasion is designed you shoud play it with 4 heavy Spear players, 4 Void Gauntlets in heavy armor, 32 Bows and 10 Heals in Light armor…
And the freaking Spears and Void players are only there to debuff the enemys so the Bow players can trololol crit everything for 10-20k dmg.
Gee an ability called Armor Breaker is like supper effective against heavy armor and shields… who would have guessed. I only run my Tank build in wars where the 30% damage reduction is used on points and in PvE (breaches, expeditions and the like). Otherwise I’ll run a DPS weapon.
I use SnB and GA and suppliment my “tankyness” with life stealing. I dont ever break 200 con unless im a certain roll in a war and then i go to 260 and use con food.
I LOVE sword and think its very powerful. My servers are down atm but ill send a pic of what i use, but i use a 600GS Keen/ls/mortal energy and a Lego (purple now) compulsion at 577 (low i know but havent seen any higher atm) and it rock with it. I use leaping strike, shield bash and shield rush.
i run 200 con/50 dex/ X Str (whatevers left usually around 180-200 depending on what gear i wanna war atm.
Its a FULL tank build with lots of offensive capabilities. The only thing i dont like atm is compulsion now that kite shields are dropping with LS on it i think i can get better than compulsion.
