Sword and Shield should scale with Str/Con and not Str/Dex

You’re not thinking about a str/con light armor build.

If you’re concerned about tanking, damage is not what you should be asking for.

Kinda what they’re for.

That’s true.

That class already exists, it’s called Light armour/rapier

I do feel you though tanks need a lil something something. For example, great sword is 100% going to be a mandatory weapon for tanks.

SnS should scale equally with STR and DEX … But not your suggestion.

Man I just wish they made a no shield sword build work.

Greatsword is comin’.

No damage should every scale with Con.

Heck no. Con is already a very potent stat that double dips, scaling up both health and healing.

If any weapon scaled its damage with con, there’s be zero reason to not go 500 con with it.

It’d be the equivalent of the current SnS with 500 dex and 21k hp. Yeah…

Agree.

Dont look past the point he is trying to make. Tanks need a place in PvP outside of wars. I think the main thing is that SnS doesnt have enough umph to it to allow a tank to play in OPR right now. If we could do SnS and use persistent skills like ice storm or oblivion while we swapped to sns then it might be better. Also maybe adding some form of supportive skill to SnS would help like giving fortify to nearby allies (not counting the damage reduction for being right on top of the tank which i do think is Hella nice) or an aoe slow to enemies if they are near you when you do last stand.

Unless they add a way for a tanks taunt to force player damage on to them, or a “cover” skill for Allies SNS tank just isn’t a thing for pvp.

You could alternatively go BB/IG and be extremely tanky, disruptive and control a point while peeling for healers.

Currently tanks are ineffective because you do such little damage and have zero burst so enemies can simply ignore you and keep focusing on the healer.

However, if you just love using a sword and shield simply go round shield and light armor and pump people.

I think instead of giving us a 10% aoe fortify with our shield up, I think it should be a bubble that uses up stamina and “blocks” for anyone inside the barrier.

Or better yet, mana THEN stamina so we have a chance to keep the block barrier up.

kick ass idea

Have you tried the Great Sword?

Yes, I have. It’s a must-have for tanks.

So there’s a difference between playing a tank, off-tank and a bruiser.
For me anyway its a pretty clear distincion in mmos that use classic shield templar types.

Being a tank (at least 300 con + shield) as in just taking a beating may be the case in PvE but no one enjoys that shit PvP and it shouldnt work that way imo. Tanks are also supposed to be cc powerhouses controlling the fights in their nearest proximity (in the current meta Warhammer is too slow for that shit) and not just target dummies with a shield or whatever.
Its dumb, mundane af.

Sadly in the current meta there’s no such thing as an off-tank (+200 con % no shield) because heavy armor is out of rotation.
Without a shield a decent geared heavy will take 4 more hits than light on average.
Thats literally the only advantage it has right now. So playing offensive build as heavy paired with inferior dodge and other debuffs renders you useless in majority of PvP scenarios.

Bruisers (up to 200 and the rest in off stats) without healers are target dummies with gap closers. Granted that typical bruiser archetype moved and is more associated with medium armor but still it should be a thing in all realms. Sadly it isnt.

Thats the way I see it anyway and as a person who enjoys playing tanky mages for instance it annoys me that currently I cant utilize it without my eyes bleeding.

Tanks aren’t fun to play against in PvP. No one wants to wail on an armored juggernaut for 10 minutes…
