People choose purple at least on our server because they were the first to buy up land. And it shows anytime you come across them and they are flagged.
Handfuls of organized ones as well, but at least on our server the yellows seem better at pvp on a smaller scale.
Are you even able to see who owns what before you join a faction?
Edit: Nvm, you can see. Probably to late but that should have been different.

Syndicate will always be overpopulated on every server because the faction self proclaims themselves to be geniuses that are the only ones exploring, scientifically progressing and they are apparently a secret organization despite being stationed in every town.
As a result, they will be the ones to buy up the land when a server is made, but will usually not have the PvP players that green and yellow have as they understand that more people = more PvP. It’s almost always the case. So when wars come along, green or yellow or both just gobble up everything purple bought.
