Hello,
seeing how much bugs & exploits are discovered, even when trading is disabled, I think it’s a wise decision to shut down servers for a month or so, take time to fix & test stuff.
Continuing like this will just result in more irreversible damage.
Everyone wants to see new world do better, and that’s the only way possible.
It sounds like an extreme thing to do, but really with things like LA closed beta and Endwalker coming this month, it’s a good time to do it … AGS has cover to do it since these issues can’t really be properly addressed otherwise, and they are going to lose a lot of active players this month no matter what they do because of these other betas and releases that are coming. SO, makes sense to do it now, really.
They do not need to shut down the servers. The damage has been done for the most part. I would rather them not do weekly patches and do a month end patch that has been thoroughly tested on a PTR.
That sounds good, on the surface, but they’re only finding these bugs and prioritizing fixing them because the servers are up and running.
They’re in a bad spot, but I don’t think it’s unrecoverable. If they can detect and ban the worst exploiters, and track down and remove the biggest exploit-gains, things will recover in the long run. Worst case, some short term roll-backs might be called for.
I’m reminded of Neverwinter Online’s “Caturday” problem. That was huge, destroyed their economy basically overnight, and yet they managed to recover from it (even if I soon afterward quit that game).
The problem isn’t only about gold duping. Endless bugs & exploits and non working stuff popping up everyday or following a patch. The bleeding needs to stop.
Yes and how are they going to continue finding these bugs? By having people play. Once they have a good number of them fixed, they add it to a PTR build and let people play it for a few days to see if anything critical occurs.
They need to focus on fixing the existing ones, Finding other bugs on top of existing ones will only result on more people leaving & more disastrous outcome. They need to test their stuff before release, not when it’s live. That’s what alpha & beta are for.
I mean even with trades disabled, people are exploiting townboard projects it seems & so on. Stuff is becoming overwhelming I feel bad for the devs & all.
Yes, but what happens when they restart those servers and those bugs that weren’t found yet come out? At least with the servers running people can find them and they can log it. Shutting down a game for a month is not going to happen.
They won’t come out if they test or put some worlds on testing. There is difference between normal bugs and gamebreaking ones. But finding so much on live servers is certainly a problem.
Yes the bugs and exploits should be focus #1 but there’s no need to shut down the servers. The new patches can be tested while they’re up. If the bugs and exploits bother you to the point you don’t want to play, just come back in a month or however long.
You don’t get it. Seeing the rate of the fixes and the bugs/exploits, they don’t have the budget on this project to put more effort or resources. So they’ll always be overwhelmed as long as new stuff keeps popping up, they will never find time to wrap things up or to fix something without breaking 10 other things. Anyway just points of view I guess.
