Tank cant trigger monsters

I can’t make monsters target me in some of their skills such as “Alluvium Marl The Caretaker” black hand skill, “The Blighted Greenskeeper” claw slam skill, “Cilla” arcane wave skill… Even though I have a lot of threat. PLS help me

Some abilities are purposely targeted it at another player. There isn’t anything you can do for that. Also taunt does not work when a mob is in the middle of an ability.

Yep, some mob skills are simply not tauntable. Stop beating yourself up, they are MADE to be that way. It was the same thing in WOW and other MMOs. Some skills will choose the player farthest away, too near, or are completely random. Its supposed to keep the DPS on their toes. When the caretaker does that ability he will usually turn to a specific player, look and them and then execute it. That player is supposed to use their dodge to avoid it. Like I said, it keeps them on their toes.

is there no way to stop the boss from using that attack on dps ?

The ability I think you are speaking on is “Vine Lash”. As per Icey Veins:

** Vine Lash — Aluvium will turn and face a player at range and then reach forth shooting an extremly fast vine at them. This does a large amount of damage to those hit.*

It goes on to say:

Aluvium should be tanked in the middle of the room facing away from the ranged players. When they turn to face a ranged player, the player should stop attacking and prepare to dodge the incoming Vine Lash.

That attack is specifically for ranged players. A tank will never be ranged hence its unavoidable.

Tell them to read the guides. Some skills monsters use are specific to ranged players. Thats all there is to it. Tell them to learn how to dodge and roll, stay alert, and get used to maintaining high dps while doing this. Most DPS “stand in bad” because they want to maintain a high dps, they then die and blame the tank or healer. NOPE. Encounters are built to provide challenges. they have to learn.

No problem. In New World you have alot of mainly PVP players that dont really understand PVE boss mechanics. Im a tank too, and have played PVE most of my gaming life. I get it, they will have to learn. Hang in there and show them the guides as proof of their responsibilities.

Someone else already explained it but no there is no way to stop things like that. It’s best if the DPS just dodges it.

Most of the time it’s one of the boss’s mechanic
One mechanic that is very common is, targeting the target furthest away from him.
So its not you

When you agro any monster its HP bar flashes red. You just check that all the time HP bar flashes for you than you are tanking properly. It doesnt help you to prevent random teammates attack but gives you solid confidence in what you are doing.

Thanks for clarifying that taint won’t work on certain ability per design. This is such a relief as a tank I felt very demotivated cause I could not stop hard hitting monster ability. And yes I mostly pvp in games so only thing I know is that tanks should always have Aggro and keep mob faces away from party.
