(Taxes) Being subjected to this type of trolling is not a good game mechanic

Just my 2 cents, take it or leave it, but I do not think guilds who win towns should consider actions like this as their first move, nor do I think AGS should allow such mechanics.

I am mostly talking about the home ownership, remove this tax perhaps, or make it so that if you grind a territory 30+ standing or something you are immune to the hikes (make it a set rate if you must have house taxes). Home taxes are costly enough without troll like game mechanics.

Might be wrong, so correct me if I am. With territory standing you can reduce that tax amount to pretty much nil.

Yeah home ownership is stupid in this game.

Maybe someone with very high standing can chime in, but I am at 32 in one town, and the home tax is still a big chunk of change (but also compared to the lack of gold grind outside of market play in this game) - whole other issue I won’t jump into on this post, as I am trying to focus on town ownership and the ridiculous “tactics” of tax maxing out, etc

I found this. Territory Calculator

It would seem you can reduce it 37%. If this is accurate.

Came from this Reddit Post

Take over the terrioty with your faction to get control of taxes… thats what this game is. happy PvP!

With all the exploits many are abusing to hold onto the towns at this time - your suggestion is not valid (not to mention the territory lock timers, bugs, conflict state bugs, etc).

With transfers currently broken there’s no point buying one on any server as until the factions settle down with clear picture on where is semi safe to place one.

While its easy to say take over the town with a war, with all the clear system abuses in game currently, such as latest hatchet god mode bug to name but one and Outpost unavailable theres no point rushing to end game or buying a house.

The ironic element for me is how Amazon let players set taxes high in their game but in real life are masters at paying little or none themselves

For now I’m enjoying the world as it is, any settlement with extreme taxes gets zero money from me period, I’ll smelt or build somewhere else, even if my own factions company is the culprit and braindead enough to think people won’t vote with their feet and go elsewhere

Think about it from a more complex perspective dude.

Taxes are levied by those in power.

Those in power are other players.

Those in power often change.

Deals and negotiations can be made to everyone’s advantage; or in this case, your disadvantage.

What will the other factions do to the controlling factions when they get into power?

Are there potential consequences to consistently high taxes? (See above)

Guys.

It’s a meta component to the game. The developers are using this as a forcing function to drive player interactions. Interesting ones, with the potential for outcomes that are difficult to predict - as they’re dictated by human interactions.

Think a level deeper folks.
