When the game is not the window focus im having gpu temperature go up by like 7-8c. Doesnt matter if i have background fps turned on or off.
Hi! Sometimes that happens because your pc still processing the game, and then you are focusing in other windows.
Hi! It happens not “sometimes” but all the time when we alt tab bcoz “decrease fps when alt tab” not working function
Yea this isnt sometimes, it is consistent. Playing the game im playing at 74-77c, alt tab out and within a couple seconds it rises to 83/84.
Do you have some fan curve in you gpu configuration that can help with that?
Yes i can turn up the fans but thats not really my point. More asking why is it happening.
As I mention, sometimes that could happens, and as the Fullscreen option in game isn’t a real fullscreen that could be causing a problem.
Also cap fps in background doesn’t mean that the consumption of the game is way lower, you need to understand if you constantly alt-tab the game and start using google, that will increase your pc resources. That’s why one of the main suggestions you will find technically everywhere when you are playing a game is to try to not have other things open in the background because will increase that consumption.
What you can check instead of the temps, is in the usage and power of the gpu. If you see that is increasing even with the game in background, for sure there’s a problem there. If you check that. let me know and we can see what we can do.
all my browsers runs with “Use hardware acceleration (if available)” turned off so if I use google or anything pc uses not GPU but CPU which cant make higher GPU load but still when I alt tab fans on GPU becomes louder and temps go higher. At all I dont need to start browsing anything it work when I alt tab to any tab opened in windows even wordpad aaand if I cap fps at 30 before alt tabbing I dont have same proble so it means again FPS cap when alt tab option in game is NOT working correctly.
For nvidia cards in nvidia control panel “Manage 3d settings” there’s a feature called “Background Application Max Frame Rate”
Try that one. Set it at 20
somehow nvidia control panel doesnt affect new world at all, tryed to lock fps at 55 or 50 but that didnt change 60 fps lock in game
Ye, in game fps limiter not working for me either, but background fps limiter working?
Also can confirm this is happening consistently even after the latest NVIDIA driver update. And even without opening Chrome or any other applications. I’m merely alt-tabbing to NZXT Cam to watch the temp instantly start to spike.
Yea i have resorted to limiting to 20 fps in background via control panel.
