Currenly, governing companies can set taxes for the different income sources (property/trade/refining/crafting) based on a frame like 2.50%-10% for Trade Tax.
So, my idea was to make those specific frame limit, especially the lower threshold, connected to the overall income produced in the territory.
- For example, Everfall and Windsward are in most servers the richest regions, so their lower tax threshold for all types should be higher, so that other regions with less income gain an advantage by being able to offer a lower tax. This way some money from EV and WW will be moved towards ‘outer territories’.
The threshold limit will then be automatically assigned for one week, when the upkeep is paid. I would recommend splitting into three groups regarding the recommend threshold:
-
High Income Territories (max 2) [recommended values for lower thresholds]
- Minimum Trade Tax = 5,5-8%
- Refining/Crafting Tax = x1-x1,5
-
Medium Income Territories (max 4):
- Minimum Trade Tax = 3,5-5,5%
- Refining/Crafting Tax = x0,75-x1
-
Low Income Territories (rest):
- Minimum Trade Tax = 2,5-3,5%
- Refining/Crafting Tax = x0,5-x0.75
Finishing Words:
This Idea is not to make players pay more taxes, but to encourage doing business in other regions. Adding to this idea would be the thought of increasing the tax relief if someone crafts/refines/trade in a region of your own faction, this also extends towards property prices. Why not connecting the Property Prices to the Property Tax? But this would need a 1 month property tax CD or sth like that to not be abused. In all, taxes needs a change for a better economy and this is my contribution to that topic.
