Texture pop in/low resolution textures

Knock on wood, but I have 0 issues with my i9-9900K, 3080, 32GB @ 3600MHz

i have exacty same setup with 3200mhz ram tho, i dont know whether ive gotten used to it or if its not as bad anymore, but its still there.

All drivers are up to date? What kind of usage do you see in task manager when you are in game?

That can’t be real.

Dozens of players with any combination of high mid and high end gaming hardware talking since four weeks about the same problem. Many of them tried to find a solution with changing gpu, changing drives, reinstalling New World, reinstalling Windows. Tried also different drivers, change settings, running Windows in a clean boot, tested there hardware with furmark, prime and and and…

A Developer confirmed possible problems in the calculation of LOD, drawing distance and promises an improvement with the next patch. And we all are very grateful for his help and keeping him and us up to date with our trials.

And none of us just comes up with the idea to check the usage, for real?

I really don’t want to start a discussion. But I had to get rid of that. Sorry for my consternation.

It never hurts to ask…

40% on 3080TI it still happens

bump, experiencing the same issue

I have also had this problem since the game released, but never had it during beta. It affects only specific things, where the textures are super, super, super low-res until I get right up on them… almost like the MIP maps are reversed.

I am also using a 3090 with the latest drivers. Things in particular that load badly:

  • All enemies/mobs
  • Statues
  • Resource nodes
  • Flags/banners
  • Distant trees (esp in Ebonscale)

Running in high vs very high does not help at all. I am also not getting anywhere near my 24G GPU memory limit.

Can’t See any graphic fixes in the 1.0.5 patch notes.

Crossing Fingers…

FYSA - I know I’m late to the thread but wanted to add I am seeing this too. It is certainly annoying and does impact my experience. I’ve noticed it for several weeks, but when I first googled to see if it was a known issue, I couldn’t find any data out there, so thought it could just be me. Glad to see it’s now become a recognized issue.

I won’t go into a ton of detail here as most have already covered it. Suffice it to say I have a high end system (i.e. RTX3080fe, 5800X, 32GB RAM, PCIe 5.0 SSDs, etc. etc.) and am having the problem. I should not be having the problem.

With this many complaints, it seems clear to me there something that needs to be addressed with the game and/or driver, as opposed to recommending players pursue clean installs and the likes.

I apreciate the dev interaction and would love to see this fixed sometime soon. If screenshots or any other info I can provide could be helpful, let me know.

by the way… whatever you tried to accomplish with your changes didn’t work because 1.0.5 didn’t fix the issue

I just started experiencing this problem today after the patch. It’s been working totally fine up to now. Running a 3070. My GPU temps dropped about 25% after it started.

Are your systems still running other games fine? Just wondering whether this game is killing our graphics cards slowly…

No issues with other games. Playing games Like RDR2, Cyberpunk, Shadow of the TR without issues, except normal LOD Things.

In New World the issue with texture loading is so “stable”, it feels like this is the right graphic. Every single texture (Not all, but many and always the same) loads everytime in the same wrong way and always in the same distance. If the right texture loads in a distance to 5 Meters it will not load in 6 Meters, even i stay some Minutes in front of them. One step forward and it will load.

Not a single try to get a solution makes it better or worse.

Hey folks - I apologize, but this change did not actually make it into the 1.05 patch. My mistake in thinking it was in, we were testing it at the time and I didn’t realize we weren’t done. So it’s aimed at an upcoming patch, once I know for sure it’s coming out i’ll update this thread or post.

thank you for the update

Yeah, thanks for your Update.

But one question i have. Ist the issue identified on server/game-data side, or is it still possible, that it can be on client side (Hardware, Driver, other Software)?

It’s definitely client. The server really knows nothing about textures for instance (which isn’t unusual). Somehow your clients are convinced they are either constrained (on load time, memory, availability of GPU resources) or they feel they are further away from objects than they actually are. Given some of the machines mentioned in the thread, it doesn’t make sense they would be constrained - so that’s likely the bug.

Client side could be the hard drives as well. although I find it unlikely anyone is still using a platter drive and not an SSD in 2021.
