I just lost 12 arena games in a row. Now, before you say anything, I played heavy armor s&s/ga and bow/spear. Every single time I got into premades that use vg/ig, vg/bb, bb/ga, vg/ls or simply s&s/spear in light armor. In all of my games, no one in my team managed to kill anyone in their team. 12 games, think about that for a second.
In 620 GS with 300 str I crit a medium armor player using vg for 900 dmg, and I have trenchant rend on the GA. Why is this even possible. Gl to all the people that have a good company to provide them with millions of gold to try every cheese build out there.
Anyway, playing this game lately made me realize it’s not healthy, it’s not fun, it’s not productive and I give up.
Yea. You put wrong armor for this game mode. I mean it can work but you need 2 heavy + medium healer and always stay in 1 place as a group. You wont be able to kill enemies but they wont kill you. So ring of fire will decide the winner.
Sry but arena is super skill based. You dont have much to show when it comes to mechanical skill + thinking when you are in heavy armor. Not much you can do in fact. So put medium or light armor and try game mode.
I am a VG medium play and I definitely take more than 900 dmg form Heavy GA users.
Your first mistake is Trenchent Rend over Thwarting Strikes.
You also have no idea what your opponent’s GEM split is, so maybe they are full onyx with a armor split more to physical, in which case they would melt to elemental (maybe if you used a INTgem in your GA, you would have done more).
Lastly is this 900 dmg after he got his fortify bonuses from VB/Scream? In that case you are crazy to take the fight, and should have ran/charged out his VB/Fortify cooldowns.
Smart play goes a long way in arena… you running face first into every enemy screaming GA! is not going to win.
This patch actually is healthy, fun and productive. It just isn’t easy, and requires thought and skill (you cannot rely on what you used in old meta). It is basically a dymanic combat system in which you have to adapt and change builds, similiar to MOBAs.
If you want some pointers, i suggest the following:
Get a GA with Keen, Thwarting Strikes/Vicious, Plagued Crits. Get a 3-man team going in which you can actually build a comp. E.g. if you have an IG teammate you can use a Aquamarine in your GA, or you can run IG as a secondary yourself. This diversifies your damage, so no-one can out tank you with a single gem type. Then you just need to learn you opponent’s weapons/playstyles and know when to an when not to take the fight.
As expected, everyone is focusing on me using heavy armor and GA. All the comments ignored the part where I mentioned I also changed to light armor bow/spear, or that fact that my team mates had the same experience. Let’s say i’m bad, although I managed to 1v2 and 1v3 in the first day with the bow when vg premades were not so popular, it still leaves 2 more players that could be more competent than me that could do nothing. The problem I have is that you can get teamed up in solo q against premades that use the most op weapon combos and you can’t do anything about it as a solo player. Regardless, gl to you all
I only explained your failing with GA, becuase you gave details and were being sub-optimal with them. Chances are you did similiar mistaked with Bow.
But I also stated you need to find an 3-man team. You cannot expect to do well as 3 random solos, versus a 3 man premade that is probably on comms and have a good comp.
Honestly the Devs should have removed the Solo Queue option from Arena, it was feedback given on the PTR, but they ignored it. Was always going to be a case that you as a premade can beat up on solo queuers, but the server population model cannot sustain both a dedicated solo and dedicated premade queue.
Combat system is far to simplistic based around stun/stagger with no real counter measures. they need of weapon utility skills period.
I suspect when Ashes of Creation launches, or any other have decent mmo launches, New World will sadly ghost.
They need to lose the endless grind mentality (grind is ok, but these guys are making everything a grind) . Completely separate perks would help for starters and prevent these ridicliuous 1 shot OP builds like the BB from happening (Yes I know this has been tweaked now)
Indeed. I have noticed that it’s easier for me to play OPR instead of arena. Being in top 3 in OPR is easier to achieve than geting my nerves wrecked in arena against cheese builds like s&s/bb, vg or IG. It also provides me with more rewards even if I lose. So opr it is from now on until they fix the arena
Well, the 3v3 is really suited 1 healer 2 damage dealers. Anything else you will most likely get owned. The format is susceptible to “blitzing”, massive damage quick and its over.
Perhaps if they have 5v5 with CAPS, it will make it a little more strategic but with the simplistic combat system they have, longevity for this game is always going to be a problem.
