Thank You AGS For Your Response to the Exploits. 16 HR turnaround. Permanent bans

ONCE in AGS history, they rolled EU back 2 hours. When the duping was at its peak.

Yes but they have to track who traded what to who. they disabled player to player trade yesterday. They could have had an alt account and traded all the gear there etc. Perma banning the account who did the exploit is step one perma banning the account they traded the gear too is step TWO. If they only do step 1 then the exploiters win again. How many days was this exploit being abused is the REAL ?

I’m not a fan of lumping the crafters squeezing out some 600s in with the dupers… The trophy bug was way too accessible and way too convenient to be punishable… If you drop candy in front of a 5 year old, you don’t blame them for eating it… But if they broke into an apartment and ordered themselves 500 candies on your amazon account, then somethings up…

Also the trophy bug is very similar to the Tempest guaranteed 600GS crafting bug that was out for a similar timeframe - but you at least had to have decent trophies, gear and best tier mats for this one

If everyone cares about there being too much gold then just create a cosmetic gold dump vendor that sells massively overpriced stuff - WoW does this with mounts and stuff

Good that they banned the exploiters but as always they have banned players not part of it too. A friend got perma banned for doing company payday well before anyone knew of the exploits.
It will be interesting to see the numbers on servers now. I wonder how many got done

yea i have seen it at both ends, know some that need to be banned but haven’t and some that weren’t even crafting at all that got a ban for cheating. it seems there may be a problem with how they identify these people.

Yes I think it happens every time. The system pings what they think is suspicious. In this case handing out x amount of gold to several members for their payday seemed shady to them. I hope they resolve those quickly.

But I do know quite a few who got banned for exploiting as well so the response was super quick on that which is impressive.

also items that were created still seem to be on TP so they didn’t really do much to the actual affect on the server.

Well if they are banned the gold goes nowhere HAHA. I guess it either rewards players who didn’t cheat to get a nice item or they need to remove the items. I think the bans were more important, we will recover

This game needs a wall of shame…please

Oooo interesting! Some servers are hovering around their population cap! Did AGS plan this to get rid of the scum and make room for others!? Bravo if so

No need for a wall of shame, in the end I am sure many players are feeling intense shame getting caught right now. I’m sure that’s enough. Also there could always be a few that will get unbanned as well. We don’t really know much about the non-crafting dupe/exploit which might be more likely to get some false positive bans. The crafting one, not sure if anyone can accidentally do that one haha.

They’re never going to give you an answer to that question.

This is the kind of moderation we need in this game to stop players from exploiting and violating the Code of Conduct! Bravo Moderation team! BRAVO! :raised_hands:

How is there any possible good spin on this at all? The fact that it has happened yet again is damning. In other threads, people were just bragging about how dupes and exploits are so far in the past for New World.

Well guess what - they are not and they never were and they won’t be ever because the game engine and/ or the Developers will keep churning out bugs.

Personally, I think the game engine isn’t really suited to MMO’s, its native home is FPS. Getting highly experienced Devs in a dying engine is bad enough but then add in that lumberyard is a custom branch (or rather was) as well. They are having to create tools for everything they want to do, which takes time. It’s not the Dev’s fault they have a serious hill to climb.

TBO even unreal isn’t suited for MMO’s out of the box its why EPIC have done a deal with CD Project Red, information and software tool exchange for cut rate dev access fees I would wager. Building an MMO is not frelling easy,

Maybe we will get a New world 2 in unreal X at some point, either way If there next MMO (scifi one I think in unreal 5) is a success, they will drop NW like a bag of dog poo, corporate will run the numbers and they will need to be good for it to stand any chance of survival.

Have as much copium as you need, but things arnt really radically better (this event shows it), they just run abit smoother than they did before. I like and enjoy NW but they are trying to fix some seriously stupid management decisions on the fly.

Ikr, that really surprised me. When I heard the news about exploit that got me sad, thinking it could possibly kill the game once again, but they nailed it. Thanks, to all the devs that worked hard to fix it asap. <3

“guys, we have to work late. Gunna ban some folks that abused a bug”

(evil grins)

I think the unfair ban posts were very much foreseen. Remember, we don’t know either way for anyone posting here on the forums. Most people will assume it’s a legitimate ban so it’s not particularly helpful to post here. It’s just going to make you more frustrated, unless you actually exploited and are here to attempt to lash out.

Here on the forums, it’s just one side of the story and biased even in the best of cases. I think there are many ways to react to getting banned. Some will feel bad, some frustrated, some accept it and create a new account, some move onto another game. What we often see here on the forums though are people attempting to lash out and try and create a false narrative to try and get back at AGS.

I do feel for the ones that may have been banned accidentally, but we don’t know their threshold and the likelihood of false positives. We do know that in the past that it was more likely to have false negatives. Even then! we saw the same amount of people lashing out on the forums.

For those that were legitimately banned inappropriately, you will get unbanned. It’s not gonna be fast based on their previous response but it will happen. Many people on the forums were actually upset that they are not doing a sweeping permanent ban for everyone, but they have committed to actually reviewing the cases. They have unbanned people in the past they thought were bots (playing ultra efficiently) so it will happen again. Posting here won’t get you much.

I’ll change the title of this post though a bit. I’m not perfect and I’m sure it’s a little instigating to people that were banned
